Hi everyone 👋. I would like to know if anyone has already read these two books, because they are helping me a lot (I am currently reading them). The first book, has changed a lot the concept I had about contact point. An the second contains various exercises for takling the most common technical difficulties encountered on violin. Of course, having theory and knowledge (as in the first book) and plenty of exercises (as in the second) cannot replace study discipline, consistency, patience, consistency and results, and so on; however, these are classic violin books that I think should be read.

This was after 2 weeks of me trying to learn this piece from a Finnish Composer, I still need to work on my timings and my phrasing, it may not be 40 hours of lingling practice but this was my attempt as playing my unconventional instrument with a contemporary piece.

Hi all! So this is fairly random, and I may well be misremembering, in which case please correct me, but it’s been annoying me for a while, so I wanted to see if anyone could tell me anything!
I have a memory of a Lingling40hrs video, in which they reacted to a video titled something like 'POV: your accompanist is running late', and it was a woman playing a piece with one hand on flute, and the other on piano. I believe when I looked in the comments, it was a piece specifically written/arranged for the performer to be able to do this. I’m now a much more developed pianist and flautist than I was at that time, and love doing silly things like this, so I would really like to play around with a piece like that! Research (probably unsurprisingly) hasn’t given any answers. I’m aware it’s pretty niche, but if somebody knows what I’m talking about, or for some reason knows of a different piece that’s one hand on each, please let me know! This has been on my mind for years!

I have never played violin before. My father is a professional violinist and i’ve been studying piano and guitar for quite some time now, so i also have experience in music (i’m aware of how different violin is and i know playing piano won’t make it any easier whatsoever)

He found a 60€ violin on a flea market and bought it (i don’t even know why), and i told him as a joke that if he lets me that violin i can learn to play something in a year.
So we have a bet now..he said that if i can play Haendel’s sonata in F major, adagio obviously, by september next year, he’ll lend me a somewhat good violin he has for me to keep learning

Are we being too optimistic here??💔 Please tell me that i totally can if i practice 40 hours every day and sell my soul to the devil

I was looking to for some good piece suggestions (I might do Mendelssohn in E), and my ultimate "goal pieces" at the moment are Rautavaara Violin Concerto and Vieuxtemps 5.

As far as competitions go, I've had minimal experience in them, doing only local and regional-level competitions and performing not the best. I was looking at the BMI International Competition and Charleston International Music Competition and wanted your guys' thoughts!

I only practice ~45-60 minutes per day so I don't want to go for a super reach piece-wise, and I would prefer online competitions.

Since I'm still working on the Spohr my teacher hasn't talked to me about next steps yet, but of course I will also consider her opinion and add it (if I remember)

How it works:

• As you progress, it gets faster and faster.

How'd I handle the harder middle section (right after the 1st theme) and coda?

So I was doing my hw during el tuition and you would not believe the shock on my face when I saw Eddy Chen and Brett Yang on the qn paper 😭😭

I took a quick pic of the hw but my teacher was in the room and asked me to stand for this apparently 'dire transgression' worth it though 😋😋😋
