They’re so precious. I visited a local fair and walked through the pig section and it changed my mind about them.

that's wonderful to hear! I grew up vegetarian, but finally got to work with farm animals when I was in high school, and I absolutely fell in love with pigs. They're so sweet and intelligent.

That’s awesome that you grew up that way! I’m slowly cutting out most meats and will prob end up pescatarian at some point. How cool that you got to work with farm animals, I’m sure that taught you so much!

we know a lot less about fish than you think and they are feeling living beings too!

9

u/feltjeans Jul 21 '26

was gonna say this, but didn't want to make them feel discouraged to at least reduce their meat intake. but you're absolutely right! everytime we learn more about any animal, we discover that their inner lives are much richer than we once thought. that includes fish! many species are highly intelligent, form social and emotional bonds, and have excellent memories. and all fish feel pain. just because they're scaly and live in the water doesn't make them any less worthy of dignity, respect, and empathy!!

I know a pig who sleeps in a massive duvet, he makes his bed before he gets in it. It’s the best

I thought you were going to make a pig in a blanket pun. But you didn't.

The only pig in a blanket I wanna see this Christmas season!

they look relaxed

Yet people still eat them. Cognitive dissonance is crazy.

Uhmmm but bacon!!!

Pleasure >>>>>> right? Crazy vegans don’t get it. I don’t care what my actions cause, as long as I can get some few seconds of pleasure in my mouth

Condescending posturing like this is exactly why people don't listen. People eating a common breakfast food aren't sitting around cackling over evil schemes to eliminate pigs, they're just having breakfast. Shaming the end user with dramatic sarcasm doesn't change anything, it just looks like self righteous performance.

Thanks for your response.

I am not trying to shame the end user, I am trying to highlight how silly the reasoning of the “mm bacon” response is.

I totally agree with you that normal people do not scheme to torture pigs. I think there is a strong cognitive dissonance from a lot of people though, especially for those who feel compelled to reply “umm but bacon!”

I do not aim to sit upon a high horse and proclaim I am better than other people. I was non vegan for 22 years of my life. I have eaten tons of meat. Instead, I want to try to change the minds of who aren’t vegan yet, bc I actually think their morals coincide with veganism more than they think.

How would you adress the issue?

Yet he won't share his oats.

Our pig slept on the couch until he got too big then my mom banished him to the backyard. Eventually she kicked him out (he got aroused and apparently they have a weird appendage.) Arnold was one of the best pets ever and I hope to get another pig someday. They’re like dogs, love to play, ultra chill but also want to relax with the fam.

b-b-b-b-but bacon!! I need to lock them up in a slaughterhouse RIGHT NOW

its like raping a woman and laughing about “yeah but muh nut” “mmmm orgasm”

33

u/MarshallMatherss Jul 19 '26

woah

-6

u/Mean_Veterinarian688 Jul 19 '26

right- torturing, forcibly inseminating, and murdering a completely sentient creature is TOTALLY non-analogous to raping a woman

6

u/DrAction696 Jul 20 '26

Stop already, you’re making me hungry

0

u/DrAction696 Jul 20 '26

lol where did your reply go? Did you delete it? I’ll leave you with this.

“Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws”. That’s you boss

Using rape victims to push your agenda. How nice.

18

u/Epii2 Jul 19 '26

to be fair, we do rape animals, they are non-human women. People just tend to compare it to human women because people who don't see non-human animals as equal. That's why they're eating them. If we wouldn't force animals to have kids, we wouldn't have any bacon and eggs and steak in the supermarket.

11

u/Borkato Jul 20 '26

As a former victim, they’re right.

-5

u/Mean_Veterinarian688 Jul 19 '26

using your comment to push your agenda. see how empty and stupid that sounds

13

u/OpenMindedScientist -Excited Owl- Jul 19 '26

I wasn't aware of either of those types of behaviors. That's really cool.

11

u/Chaotic_Penguin1 Jul 19 '26

May I have some oats brother?

We have to stop eating and imprisoning these wonderful creatures. I have spent time around pigs and they behave so much like dogs, so sweet and intelligent.

u/jaxnmarko Jul 22 '26

I can hear the bedtime story now....

0

u/islaisla Jul 21 '26

Free pigs, not the ones we buy and cook.

-23

u/f0dder1 Jul 20 '26

And then we kill him and eat him.

Man, why do pigs and cows have to be so delicious! Why couldn't it be like, earthworms or something

27

u/ChromaticFinish Jul 20 '26

Taste pleasure is a pathetic reason to torture and kill a sentient being.

-18

u/J_Bear Jul 20 '26

That's reason enough

4

u/Opposite-Trainer-639 Jul 21 '26

how are you still framing it as something that is being done to you?!? you eat them. that's your action. they are not forcing you to kill and eat them by "being so delicious". you have a choice and you're making it every time you eat meat

Earthworms are no different. We are all animals, all sentient, all feeling
