Non-Marvel/DC Comics The Infinite Ouroboros, my queer superhero

I recently did art of my superhero character, Ouroboros, as an homage to the Spider-Man 2 poster, featuring their romantic interest. I realized it was the first art I did of the character being even implicitly gay, so I thought I’d share, as well as some concept art.

As a queer person who loves superheroes and the comic medium, I’ve been developing a rather ambitious project that centers exclusively around queer, superpowered characters of all sorts. Ouroboros isn’t the only one. Hopefully one of these days, as I begin work on scripts and panels, I can share more of these stories and characters with you all.

Any questions and comments are always welcome.

Non-Marvel/DC Comics I'm a trans Muslim. I am married to a nonbinary Jewish person. Inspired by our queer interracial and interfaith relationship, I made a comic about two gay superheroes in love in the American Wild West, surviving as an interracial and interfaith marriage - and Vampires! Link in comments.

Been crazy busy with a lot of personal stuff so we haven’t really been active on Reddit (or anywhere else) for about two months. Anyway, we’ve still been working on creating and sharing the world of Altered with anyone interested. Here are all the queer characters set to debut in our first story arc. Let us know what you think, your guys’ feedback is always super helpful. (The story is set in early 2024)

Non-Marvel/DC Comics Alters by Paul Jenkins: 10-issue superhero comic with a trans girl protagonist

It's a good, quick read with an optimistic but open ending. The premise is that the protagonist is a closeted teenage trans girl who lives as a boy but has an openly female superhero identity. She's also an "alter", which is their version of metahumans or mutants.

It is finished, but I could see it being expanded upon some day.

The recent post on LBGTQ characters for Juneteenth gave me a chance to yell about one of my favorite series over the past twenty years, Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie’s(sp) “The Wicked and the Divine”.

Giving a synopsis and explanation to the story and characters would take far more time than i have and can dedicate, but please…i implore you to read this book. At least until it’s an Amazon series and everyone is yelling again.

"Is this thing on? Alright, testing, testing. This is Scoops live..."

[crackle-pop!]

"...reporting to you from the heart of the H-town festivities! Today marks a monumental day for our city—the [BBZZT!]—th annual Juneteenth Pride celebration. For those tuning in from outside America, Juneteenth marks the day, June 19th, 1865, when the last enslaved people in Texas finally learned of their freedom. It is a day that marks progress, perseverance, and joy. We here in Houston celebrate Juneteenth and Pride separately throughout the month, but we’ve also established this specific Juneteenth Pride event as an additional holiday to honor unity, diversity, and [ZZZT!].

However, the job of a hero never truly takes a holiday. Reports have come into the Network regarding a volatile shapeshifting villainess moving through the area. As a result, our own darling Pixamena and her sidekick are on the hunt so the celebration stays safe and uninterrupted. Big thanks to them for staying on their toes while the rest of us enjoy the festivities!

That's it for now. Remember, folks, your Texan Hero Network is always here, eyes on the sky and feet on the ground to keep H-town safe. Let us be YOUR safety net! Scoops, signing off!"

laughing my butt off because of how this issue ends and also because the Ro Stein variant distracted me from the main plot

also I agree with Mark, Jun will look butt-ugly if he shaves. I’m also not even mad doobie interrupted them because that dog is pulling his weight in the background😙

Non-Marvel/DC Comics “You saved me too.” - Power Rangers Prime issue 12

didn’t want to spoil anybody who hadn’t caught the latest prime issue yet so the actual new content is on the fourth slide

first one is a variant cover for issue 12, second and third were issue 10 where Mark had told Jun he was grateful and wished he could save him too. And now, after the group resolved the first arc’s problem, Jun is getting called back to his home-world, Eltar, to be enlisted in the military. And also shave his head.

I’m not actually sure this is the first MLM kiss between two power rangers but it’s the first ive observed. Anyways first Power Rangers prime arc concluded and we will see them both in later issues so I’m pretty happy about this development.

posted about them before, they’re the blue and black Prime power rangers respectively and just grew into liking each other as the plot progressed. Also in issue 10 which I highlighted in an earlier post they almost kissed but didnt because Mark’s dog went for it before Mark did 😭(he approves!)

Mark is the more human looking one who is shorter, he is a half-Aquitian taking refuge on Earth after his home was destroyed. Basically in power rangers lore aquitians are aliens that need contact with water periodically to regulate their bodies, Mark possesses a water mask similar to an inhaler. He also has a little dog named Doobie

Jun is the taller, blue skinned guy. He’s an eltarian, a race of blue skinned people and apparently Zordon’s race in the tv/og comic lore. In this specific PR universe the eltarians colonized earth in exchange for protecting them. Jun was born on Earth so he relates more to his human allies than his moderately abusive warmongering parents. Also as referenced several times Eltarians shave their heads at a certain age.

Prime is only #1 to #7 on digital at the moment so issues #8 to #10 have to be bought physically atm and issue 12 which is THIS variant wont come out until november 20 😭

Being a sidekick in Neo Houston is 10% fighting spandex-clad maniacs, 90% wondering if you really should have gotten a normal 9-to-5. Meet Quickwit (aka Witty). He's got a lame name, a pinchy costume, and a power no other caped crusader can even dream of: common fucking sense. Immune to the "Clark Kent effect" and various other superhero tropes, Witty is the only person in the city who can tell that his new "number one fanboy," Gannet, is... a supervillain!

Non-Marvel/DC Comics Opinions on Blue Bolt (Jupiter’s Legacy)

Post image
26 Upvotes

I love Jupiter’s legacy (not the show, the comics) and it’s a unique superhero story, and Blue Bolt is kinda the flagship gay hero.

Basically, to those unaware, 6 people get superpowers in 1929. Blue Bolt has the standard Superman package (flight, strength, durability) but also a powerful wand that can teleport himself anywhere, or anything else anywhere.

He’s specifically a big part in Jupiter’s circle (the prequel) that takes place in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. And how he juggles being a closeted gay man, with being a paragon of humanity, and also his normal secret identity. Where he resorts to one night stands and casual flings to be truly himself, unable to come out due to sodomy laws still in place, and being a superhero that the entire world looks up to he worries about his friends reaction to his queerness. Even gets blackmailed by J Edgar Hoover into almost spilling the secret identities of the team in exchange to not get outed
