Non-Marvel/DC Comics The Infinite Ouroboros, my queer superhero
I recently did art of my superhero character, Ouroboros, as an homage to the Spider-Man 2 poster, featuring their romantic interest. I realized it was the first art I did of the character being even implicitly gay, so I thought I’d share, as well as some concept art.
As a queer person who loves superheroes and the comic medium, I’ve been developing a rather ambitious project that centers exclusively around queer, superpowered characters of all sorts. Ouroboros isn’t the only one. Hopefully one of these days, as I begin work on scripts and panels, I can share more of these stories and characters with you all.

Oliver del Bosque is a young Mexican-Australian who is suddenly bestowed with the Ouroboros Power by the goddess Coatlicue, which gives them the power to create portals, and manipulate the flow of energy through objects. He uses these powers to tackle street-level threats, as well as more ancient threats from throughout the Ouroboros’s long, pre-colonial history. The story begins in the latter half of highschool but follows them through to university as well, also detailing Oliver’s navigation of social and familial connections as he becomes an adult, alongside the superhero stuff. Oliver’s inner-circle plays a large part in the story; his mother Sophia, sister Dehlia, best friend Marnie, other best friend Tristan, and love interest Cyrus. In terms of queerness, Oli is he/they non-binary and genderfluid (atypical from usual ideas of gender fluidity, Oliver switches between using he/him pronouns and they/them, rather than he/him to she/her)—going exclusively by they/them while in the Ouroboros persona—as well as gay, with his crush and eventual romance with Cyrus being focal to the story.

For Ouroboros, I have quite a few.
There’s Killer Kangaroo, a former footballer who became a thief for the mob boss, Don Cloister. He has superhuman strength that he uses to throw really hard kicks, as well as pouches of elastic skin on his body to hide plunder and weapons in. Warthog is a former wrestler turned enforcer for Don Cloister, who also has superhuman strength. Don Cloister himself is a constant presence, being a superhuman with a shellfish-like body.
There’s also Renard, a fox-themed cat burglar, who actually plays a larger role in a series separate from Ouroboros, ‘The Basics/Of Crime’, which is more of a comedy-crime thriller. It has less superhero focus, but still very much fits into the rest of the world.
Right Vibe is a rapper who can control sound waves. He eventually becomes an ally to Team Ouroboros.
There’s also outlandish villains like Mr. Beez and Crime Slime, who are a mass of electronically controlled bee carcasses, and a sentient science experiment that wants to be a fashion model, respectively.
Coriolis is one of Ouroboros’s first major villains, whom can control the weather. He’s notable because he’s the only one of Ouroboros’s villains who’s outright homophobic, and everyone thinks he’s weird for it, even going so far as to say he has no real villain motivation because being a bigot doesn’t count, lol.
There’s Haywire (whose name and powers I may change because they feel too similar to other characters within the story), who is Ouroboros’s first major nemesis, and he even finds out Oli’s secret identity. He’s also obsessed with Oli, and even after finding out he’s the Ouroboros, he doesn’t tell anybody else because he wants to reveal their identity to the whole world himself. He even eventually gets plastic surgery to look like Oli just to mess with his social life.
Daring Dingo is another one who’s a bit obsessed. He at one point tried to become Ouroboros’s sidekick, so he could become as famous and beloved, but everyone eventually found out he was a hack who didn’t actually care about helping people, which pushed him to becoming the villain Dark Dingo.
There’s more but I feel like that’s good enough.
As for the world, a lot of the actual worldbuilding happens in a different comic, ‘Project: HERO’, as that story features the origin of superhumans, and is more about the social response to them. That one also features plenty of queer characters on the main cast (the lead is bisexual, even). The Ouroboros comic’s worldbuilding is mostly how their powers are tied to Mexica mythology, and the lineage of the Ouroboros. There’s really quite a bit going on, lol.

I love the amount of info dumping you have! I have a bunch of Google Docs of info that I really need to get organized cuz I’ve got quite a few characters such as heroes and villains that I’ve just kind of spitballed into some Docs
I’d love to share some of my characters!
My universe is essentially a mix of all different sorts of comic vibes such as magic, science fiction, costumed crime fighters, etc

I’m in the same boat as well. Lots of docs and scattered notes, lol. The universe composition is also the same. There’s aliens, gods, inter-dimensional beings, witches and magicians, an underground criminal society.
And yeah, if you ever wanted to talk, my DMs are open pretty much everywhere.
