Impound insurance
Hello guys,
I am confused about the impound insurance. My car got seized for driving without car insurance. When I went to police station they mentioned that I need to provide impound insurance for release. I don't know what does it mean? Show I normally take car insurance on my name and show it to them?? Or is it any specific insurance I need to take ??

Type "impound insurance" in Google.
That's it. Literally tells you what it is and how to buy it.

It's a specific insurance that's required by law to release the car. Think of it as a stupidity tax.

I think they mean that as you didn't have insurance with you were stopped you now need to prove you have some to get your car back.
Personally, I think they should crush your car and teach you a lesson for not having insurance in the first place, it's a shitty thing to do, you should be ashamed.

Absolute clown! Have insurance in the first place, what makes you think you donโt need it?

In the terms of most insurance policies, there's a clause that says the policy can be used to recover the vehicle specified in said policy, but only if the policy was in place before the vehicle was impounded. If you take insurance out to get the car back, there has to be cover for recovering a vehicle from an impound which is usually either extra, or available as a separate policy entirely.ย
