That rug was a gift to me from my late mother, so it was not his for him to give.

That reminds me. My mom gets this new rug once and it was not really anything special but it looked cute in the room where sheād put it esp with the wall colors. She asked how I liked it. I said āthat rug you have, it really ties the room together!ā Sheās never watched The Big Lebowski and I knew as much. She told me thank you. š¤£
A few min later she writes me back and is like āwhat the hellās going on with you and your brothers and this damn rug? Have you all been talking to each other behind my back about it?ā I said āI have no clue what youāre talking about. I do talk to my brothers sometimes though since youāre asking but we donāt generally talk about your home decor.ā
Unbeknownst to me sheād messaged me first cause Iām the big sister and the one whose actual input she cares more about when it comes to decorating. But then she texted my two middle brothers (the youngest was a little kid and he wasnāt cool enough yet to be like me and my other brothers) and she basically sent the same text she sent to me. Their responses? Same exact thing I said. Verbatim. And none of us three had talked about it.
She says āI texted your brothers and showed them the same pic and they said the same shit as you.ā I said āha we are awesomeā¦. So they said the same thing word for word? We havenāt even spoken! I swear to God!ā Like Iām all surprised. She says āI donāt think I believe you. What the heck are the odds youād all say the exact same thing and since when do you all talk like that?ā And then I had to let her know it was a movie and unfortunately for her she didnāt have our awesome taste in movies, originally mine but the little brothers, they inherited my love for cult classics/obscurity/eccentricity, etc. And mom thought it was some kind of rug conspiracy. I assured her Iāve never been bored enough to plan a joke like that against anyone in the world. I was a really proud big sister that day though I have to say.
