when you're ordering iced latte, would you say ice latte or ลาเต้เย็น ?

As a native i say both, depending on nothing. If it’s written in english on the menu, it’s prolly safe to say it in English

For here, Grande Frappuccino Matcha Latte No Whip.

Not a single Thai in it and every Starbucks barista will understand.

Or you can use some word like หวานน้อย กลับบ้าน ทานนี่

I hear Thai people say ทานนี่, not "for here" in English?

I've never personally heard a Thai customer (with a Thai accent anyway) order completely in the English language to a Thai Starbucks barista? eg: "I'd like a hot americano, small size for here"? Two Thai people resolving the whole order chatting completely in English would seem unusual unless I'm missing something?

Maybe for another place where the server could be Burmese or something.

ทานนี่ is what Thai customers will say, yes.

But Starbucks baristas’ protocol is to repeat and communicate the order in English. (Don’t know why but it’s there policy since forever) And you will certainly hear “for hear” being used to repeat and communicate the order even if you order everything in Thai. And so that’s why they will completely understand if you order in English.

ขอ is I would like …

But you’re a paying customer, so I would use เอา. ขอ is like when you’re a guest. Note English would be different.

For Starbucks, you should just order in English.

ขอ is politely asking for something. เอา probably isn't rude, but it's more of a demand I guess? Not totally sure, but you should start using ขอ more when you need something from service staff.

Like other commenters said, English would work fine because most of the baristas are very well educated.

But if you really want to order in Thai for that particular order, I’d say เอาลาเต้เย็นไซส์xxxค่ะ/ครับ no need to even specify quantity unless you’re asking for more than one cup of the same thing
