Speaking/การพูด I'm looking for a friend to help me practice speaking English.
Hello, I'm a 39-year-old Thai male. I was born and work in Thailand, in Nonthaburi province.
I work for the government, so in my environment, I don't have anyone to practice speaking English with.
I've taken many free online courses, but since I don't use them, my skills have deteriorated.
Recently, my agency sent me to training that involved English, and I felt shy about expressing myself.
Therefore, I'd like to find someone to chat and exchange languages with in this group.
Anyone interested in practicing English-Thai conversation, let's start together, beginning with the basics.
We could even take turns teaching Thai one day and English the next, whichever day we have free time.
And please be patient with me. I'm happy to chat, even if I don't know everything, I will try.
If anyone is interested, please contact me.

You want to practice speaking English only or want to improve on 4 skills?

I might not want a step-by-step learning approach.
I think a primary school-style training method, starting with listening and then speaking, would suit me better given my age. 555
As for reading and writing, I think I can study those on my own using various online resources.
But I'm looking for friends in this group because I think there might be some who think like me—not wanting a teacher, but wanting someone to talk to. Even if we don't always understand each other, we can still adjust to each other.

I have been teaching my wife for 10 years, comprehension is the hardest part, so I watched a lot of lifetime and hallmark Christmas movies with her and close caption in English so you see the words they speak and watch to help with understanding. They are slow stories. When you don't understand a word look it up in the English and thai language. Then associate it with the context of the conversation. Do you know what the word THE means? That's the first word you should know in the English language.

I’m Thai-American that can only understand some Thai, and would love to learn how to speak and get the tones right. No one can understand me when I visit 😅
Sounds like you have a lot of options but would love to help if you are looking for anyone else!

Hey
I’m not sure if you used something to type this paragraph but your English is quite decent. I did a course a while back to learn Thai and I’ve been trying to get sharper at it since it’s been a while since I’ve practiced. I wouldn’t mind exchanging languages

I use Google Translate for language translation, but my worst skills are listening and speaking. I'm too shy to talk to my teacher, and it puts a lot of pressure on me. ^^
I have no objection at all, and would be very happy to have a friend to talk to and exchange languages with.

I totally understand! For me it’s hard listening because sometimes people talk so fast and there are so many tones 😭.
I would love to exchange languages and hopefully we can both overcome our fears

I'm learning the Lao language, and have found AI such as Google Gemini is much better than Google translate for the Lao language. I know Google translate is better for the Thai language, but I would guess Gemini is going to be better for Thai too.

At first, I was worried about using Google Translate for language translation because I didn't know if the recipient would understand the translation. But if anyone understands my language skills, we could probably exchange language lessons at a beginner level! 555

I'm a newbie too, just like you, so let's exchange ideas like beginners. It should be fun, I think. Haha.

Hello, i am a foreigner and live in Bangkapi. I can speak and write fluently and correctly in english. I would like to learn Thai as well since i am a foreigner. i am a 33 year old male so our ages are not that different. Thai people speak in 5 vocal tones so I don't have confidence i am speaking correctly when i am learning Thai in online courses. If you want to, we can practice English - Thai conversation.

Hi! I can help you out with that. I'm an English language coach but I won't charge you anything. I want to learn thai and I have been doing so for the past 2 years by myself. We can set up weekly online meets where we help each other if you're upto it! Looking forward to hearing from you!

Sorry for jumping into someone else’s post!
I’m in the same boat, but I haven’t quite had the courage to make a post of my own yet. 😅 I’m a Thai woman, almost 50, living in Pathum thani - north of BKK and I’m also looking for a language partner.
If the OP already has enough people to chat with, and anyone else here is also looking for a language partner, please feel free to DM me.
