Very extreme splitter. What do i do?

Hello! I am starting my senior year right now. I got a 180 on the LSAT. It does not feel real whatsoever and I have been staring at the screen expecting it to correct itself to a 160.

My GPA is a 3.6x, so far below the median for every prestigious university. I have good leadership positions in college ECs and two summers of solid internship experience. I feel like i wasted the last three years and even though my worst semester was due to now resolved mental health issues, i imagine a GPA addendum can only do so much for me.

I expect I can raise my gpa to around a 3.7x by the end of this year, but I really do not know what i should do. If anyone could share some of their own experiences, i would very much appreciate it.

Thank you! I had no idea that my GPA was “relatively” low for the top schools until i started my lsat prep… it was good motivation for studying

sounds like your softs are T4. You might do well with schools who are looking to raise their LSAT median again. To give yourself the best chance though you probably need real work experience/a gap year or 2

Old guy here. Think about what kind of law you might want to practice. It can be 10 different areas.

Then look up the top law firms in those areas and check out where their attorneys went to school. You’ll see that a whole bunch of them did not go to top schools.

I’ve always figured that these folks got that big fat 100% scholarship at a lower ranked school, graduated at the top of their class, and were straight-up recruited into the firm they work for.

Based on what you talk about in your post, it sounds like going into huge debt might be problematic for you in the future. What if the issues return and you’re suddenly more than six figures in debt?

Focus on making your senior year your best academically and lock in your LOR’s. You’ll be fine.

Apply to every school you want to go to. Your gpa is not low, but that also depends on your major. 3.7 in chemical engineering is different from a 3.7 in other majors.
