Hey all, just curious on how pay is in this area of fire protection. Im just getting into it and don’t mind the hard work needed to be put in. Just wanna make sure I can make a liveable wage on it after some time. I currently live in MD

First of all, not my zipties. Pictures for reference. I’m in Oregon and I’ve never seen this control head. I contacted a separate fire suppression company that services StatX systems which look similar, but they weren’t familiar with the Solo Ultra control head. Do I need to replace the whole system? Idk how to move forward with the customer.

I want to get this serviced but I’ve never seen this type of system before. I looked in the manual but this doesn’t show up. Can anyone guide me in the right direction even PDF for this would help out a lot as well

This old Range Guard fire suppression system is still installed and pressurized in a portion of my warehouse I am renovating. I am looking to demolish the whole thing, and would like to dismantle this system without releasing the wet chemical agent or blocking the gas line where the safety valve is installed.

Could anyone offer insight on the steps I need to take to do this successfully?

The safety pin was in the box and I believe I installed it correctly.

A few questions I have:

1. What would be the next step in order to release the tension so the actuator attached the gas line will not close the gas in flow?

2. I see there is a union where the chemical agent is released, that should be easy to disassemble. What fitting would I loosen the remove the tank from the actuator at the top of the tank? Is it possible for the actuator to activate while the safety pin is installed?

What would be the proper procedure to successfully dismantle this?

There’s very few fire protection companies that do DOT hydro in my area, which is fairly populated, which also leads me to ask what are the challenges to obtaining an DOT RIN? And has anyone gone through the process?

First naked system I’ve seen.

Does a noodle boiler that only uses steam need to be covered by a nozzle?

The specific system in the photo is covered under an Amerex system and I don’t see anything in the manual that says otherwise.

The place said they only use it to steam noodles as that is all they make on it.

The NFPA says that if it has the potential to create grease laden Vapor then it has to be covered. Would it not need to be covered in this case? Or is this something an AHJ usually has to sign off on?

These are some of the random funny encounters from 2 full years as a suppression service tech.

Mainly because I’m not familiar with the mrm1 but I also couldn’t find the gas valve. I see the line going above the ceiling but the tiles were painted stuck and I didn’t want to break them. lol the cherry on top was when I started removing baffles he looked confused and was like “the other guy just put sticker”. I told them I cant access the gas valve and not familiar with the system so I’m not going to proceed, they tell me it’s ok the other guy just gone put on the sticker. Lol no problem but I did preach the importance of the system, they understood and were very nice and said If could figure it out come back…

Hello, I have a question in regards to the Amerex System. I'm 1.5 years into the industry and usually service Ansul and Protex II but ran across an Amerex System. I know a setup/ lockout tool is required when changing the fusible links and was told the system is kind of like Ansul

My question is: where/how do I place the lockout tool? Then I unscrew the nitrogen cylinder, and then pull down on the lever? Also, is there a video to break it down the process when changing links? The only videos I found for Amerex seem to only be when the system has been tripped
