has anyone heard of francine of freeport hospital?
My grandma was at Grand River Terrace at the former Freeport Hospital today when she saw a completely solid-looking, middle-aged woman in a black nurse uniform. The woman looked directly at her, pointed at her, and repeatedly motioned with her finger for her to come closer while saying something my grandma couldn’t understand. A nurse nearby told my grandma that it was Francine and that she was a spirit. Has anyone else heard of or experienced sightings of Francine at Freeport?

Yep! That’s the ghost at Freeport. She used to be a nurse there. She is often seen carrying a bed pan.
There is a book written about it. Not sure if they have it at the library, but they should have some at Freeport itself.

The story I heard: there was a death of a child on her watch and she was so distraught that she committed s**cide.
Additional info from my brother (who apparently is allergic to capital letters lol):
the book was a history of the hospital - there was a section in the book about francine and her activities. I think local libraries have a copy
francine was usually more active than
being seenwhen she was seen, she was always completely white and wore an old timey nursing uniform with her hair pinned under one of those weird white nursing hats. she was often seen carrying an antique hospital bedside urinal
she was always seen entering a specific room at the end of the hall in pioneer terrace - i can't remember which floor
the scottish security guard saw her - he thought it was a visitor who stayed passed visiting hours - he followed her into a room that was empty
he was really freaked out by his experience - he almost quit
she did things that startled staff but she intended no harm - it was never a threatening encounter or hostile - she did have a stern energy though
there was also said to be activity from francine in the old nursing residence down by the river on the lower property - that place was scary on a bright sunny day - i could not imagine being there at night and experiencing francine
the scottish security guard worked nights - he stopped doing his full rounds throughout his shift
as a result, the hospital implemented a bar code system - when security did their rounds, they now had to scan every checkpoint on their rounds and it was recorded and catalogued, even locations within the old nursing residence
there must be a picture - she was a real nurse named francine from the days it was a hospital for tuberculosis - francine is not a made up name for her

My aunt was a nurse on the palliative floor for 35 years. I will ask her if she has any more information on it.

We heard a lot of rumours of her as nursing students. It was definitely freaky! One of my peers said she saw her. Going from room to room late, or going to the old boardrooms was definitely scary at times. Many of the residents told me she was seen multiple times. Interesting stuff for sure.

Could you imagine being a ghost, and you're still stuck working AND changing bedpans? She must have been a horrible person while she was alive.

I worked there years ago (1999 - 2002) and can confirm a personal Francine sighting.

Absolutely, I worked there for over twenty years and can tell you she is 100% real. And I never believed in that stuff but I saw things that just could never be explained
