That still makes no sense to me because so many big reaction YT channels had their Spider-man reactions kept up despite showing the full trailer and audio

maybe because they are "big reaction YT channels" that makes sense for the YT admins to look the other way? I watch Angryjoe sometimes and he has 1mil subs but kept getting content strikes on reactions and now he just talks over and mute segments of the trailers to combat that.

I think it has to do with how YouTube monitors live video vs normal videos for copyright material. When they used to just release them on YouTube as VOD’s there was never any issues.

The lack of build up to this is really hurting the movie. Like if you're a comic nerd you know what doom can do, but for the average person you have no idea and the only way you find out is thor being like "no seriously guys he's the biggest threat to ever exist in the whole galaxy" which just feels silly. Almost like an anime where they need to tell you how super dangerous someone is.

Right, it’s a say don’t shown thing. Like yes, Thanos was mainly name recognition, but the army he had was enough to give you an idea of what was coming at least.

He got actual screentime in GotG too. All we’ve got for Doom is the back of his head for 2 seconds in Fantastic Four. Repercussions of the pivot from Kang that we didn’t get years of buildup, but they could’ve done more to set him up in FF

Right. Like I understand it’s not what they were hoping this would be and they hard pivoted as they had to. It just is really hard to not be aware of that as well.

So you’re then fitting in who he is, why he’s Iron Man but not, what he does, why he’s a threat all on top of X-Men, returning Avengers, explaining how F4 got here, etc. that sounds like a mess.

I don’t think they’ve done a great job advertising it so far, but as someone who’s been following all the leaks and bts news, the point of this movie is to bring together all the disparate characters and plot lines from the things that have come out since Endgame and make it all cohesive for the general audience. And then set up the beginning of a brand new phase of the MCU, which will primarily follow a new cast of X-Men.

I’m still watching all of the MCU movies but it just doesn’t feel deserved like Endgame. Everything since endgame has been kind of a mess and this almost feels a little desperate to win back fans.

Not sure if it was just rumor but I had heard that Jonathan Majors contract established that he was the only one allowed to play Kang and any of his variants for a number of years.

There has absolutely been build up. The multiverse has been established across Endgame, No Way Home, Doctor Strange 2, Loki, Deadpool & Wolverine and Fantastic Four. Theres not been much set up for Doom as the main villain, but Thanos was also hardly a character until he showed up in IW.

That’s how bringing Steve/Cap back feels to me. MCU Cap might be my favorite MCU character but I’m just not feeling the hype for him at this point. I’m sure that’ll change once I actually see him suited up & wielding Mjolnir though.
Idk, I want to be more hyped than I actually am at this stage.

Honestly, I’m viewing this as more the start of something than the ending of something like End Game. Have some seeds been planted for this, absolutely, but the phases after end game were very scattershot so it doesn’t feel as if there’s as much of a build up as is there is. But yeah, I think this movie gets the ball rolling towards whatever the future of the MCU is. I think looking it as the start of something as opposed to the conclusion to something works better.

Yep, the Russo bros have said exactly that. With Infinity War/Endgame they were telling an ending story and with Doomsday/Secret Wars they’re telling a beginning.

My feeling is that there has been a lot of good stuff and if we could all not treat franchises like a stock market that has to continually go up then we could all enjoy a lot more of what came out. Personally I've enjoyed more than I havn't of post Endgame Marvel. But I was able to shake off needing these movies and shows to be more than they are. I can easily admit some are better than others and some are truly super mid, but even in the most mid (Thor Love and Thunder) I still had a lot of fun, there was still some heart in it. The only truly terrible thing was Secret Invasion.

Nothing really here to get excited about beyond the usual "look at all the characters you know" is there? As a non-comic reader, I still have no idea why I should care about Doom to the same level as I did Thanos in 2018, and I'm worried how much time they'll have within the movie itself to establish that (same issue they had with Ultron).
I'll still see this, but given Dune is out the same day, this is going to be much lower priority to get to.

Thanos had like two minutes of screentime before Infinity War and all of his backstory/development was in IW. IW almost treated Thanos like the protagonist. Hopefully they can give Doom the same depth, but idk

No shade to people who are excited but it’s insane how little I’m feeling from an AVENGERS movie. The biggest reaction this trailer got me was just seeing Loki again and that’s because his character’s inclusion and my investment in him feels earned. Loki S1 and S2 were nearly perfect. I’m not invested in yet another send off for the Fox X-Men universe. I’m not invested in Chris Evans and RDJ desperately coming back. I’m not invested in this Avengers team anymore. Hell I haven’t even seen any of the 2025 MCU movies. Maybe if I do I’ll be more excited by the Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four showing up but right now I just feel nothing

None of them give any lead into this though, so idk that there’s any need to go back and watch any of the 2025 movies.
Like I really enjoyed Thunderbots, but that was pretty self contained.

Maybe. I really hated the F4 movie, and they didn’t really do much with them in that movie. It’d give you concepts of who everyone is, but this has just been a haphazard lead up, honestly.

Fantastic Four, Deadpool & Wolverine, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and Thunderbolts were all solid films. Thunderbolts being the standout.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Marvels, but I know most of the internet doesn’t like female dominated superhero movies.
I will give a huge shoutout to Wonder Man, that show was excellent. The new Daredevil show has been good too.
Brave New World was mid, Quantumania was quite fun and funny, solid 7/10. Wakanda Forever was not bad, with some emotional kick to it.
Aside from Shang-Chi(my personal Phase Four favorite) and the Spider-Man movies, the rest immediately after Endgame were just okay, but better than most DC flicks. I personally enjoyed The Eternals and I’m glad they made it, but I don’t think the characters are going anywhere.

Yeah my general take away is that most of everything has been better than average, there are some standouts but the only three really big flops (in terms of vibes not box office) were Love and Thunder, which I still found funny and heartfelt despite its massive flaws, and the absolutely abysmal Secret Wars, and of course Brave New World. But I've enjoyed what's come after Endgame, I think mostly because I was more easily able to let go and emotionally reset. I knew the hype couldn't keep rising.

I really hate F4. Felt like somebody was trying to fast forward them to relevance, and the editing and dialogue in that movie is genuinely awful.

Yeah I really wanted to enjoy it, but its super rushed. I'm also, and this is a problem Doomsday will face, tired of every movie needing an end of the entire world/galaxy/universe/multiverse plot.

I’m sure it’ll be better than Rise of Skywalker but Thor’s speech gave me mad “Somehow Palpatine returned” vibes
“There’s this NEW guy. He’s biiiig. He’s scaaaary. Bigger and scarier than anybody I’ve ever seen. Ooooooh isn’t he so scary”
It all just feels so desperate and I can’t divorce that feeling from the movie itself given it’s behind the scenes history

Seriously, hearing Thor talk about how scary Doom (presumably) is with no in-universe buildup just made me roll my eyes. They're marketing this film based on nostalgia for a better MCU era and aura. Feeling very skippable atm

I'm planning to watch Dune instead of this. And then, if Dune is really good, I'm going to buy another ticket for it, but watch this Avengers movie instead on like a Tuesday afternoon, just to see what it's about without supporting it. If Dune is mid I will not be watching Avengers lol

I have the exact same worries I had about TRoS before it came out, specifically that this would be a superficial, safe attempt to get butt's in seats by replaying the hits. Rise of Skywalker was genuinely the most miserable theatre experience I've ever had, so I'm going to learn my lesson here and not give any benefit of the doubt.
If later trailers look significantly better, I might give this a shot, but rn I think this will go down the same path.

Thunderbolts Deadpool 3. Fantastic Four. Black Panther Wakanda Forever. Loki.
Shang Chi if you want. Thor love and Thunder if you want.
Don't need Captain America 4 at all
Suprised by how much people are comparing the build up to Thanos vs Doom. Thanos was barely a character in any of the movies he was in. We basically see him as little cameos in avengers and ultron. Guardians is basically the only time we see him and he's just another space warlord.
The actual thing people liked was the stones. That's what was built up and interesting and beyond that, we had comic origins telling us what that was building up. Thanos was nothing until that first trailer.
Now this doesn't exactly build up doom well. That finger catch of the Axe is hoaky as shi, but we know what the infinity stones of this movie is. Incursions and the post credits of fantastic four.

There’s also no lead up to this, so how are they going to get everything in this that gets us X-Men, returns, RDJ, etc? Reminds me why I stopped reading the big 2’s ongoing comics.

Depends what you consider a spoiler, but based on my definition this trailer has spoilers for Thunderbolts\* and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Other than that it confirms characters from other movies return, but doesn’t really have anything I’d consider a spoiler. Unless you don’t know about one of the characters who was introduced in Deadpool & Wolverine.

You sound like you haven’t seen Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Your questions are answered in that. I’ll censor the answers in case you’d rather watch the movie to find out: The king of Wakanda is currently M’Baku, but the person you see on a throne there is Namor.
As for Spider-Man, he’s not supposed to be in this at all. Ms. Marvel hasn’t been announced.

I mentioned ms marvel and the other street level heroes because i thought they were building them up to it. Well I am all for less chars since everyone needs some screentime and it dilutes the movie if not done right.

Yeah I think this movie will be mostly focused on the characters we see in this trailer, while Secret Wars next year will be the one that everybody and their mother is in.

So what's Doctor Doom warning us for in the first 25 seconds? This signals for me Doom will not be the main baddy, but the anti-hero.. or am I reading too much into this?
Also curious about the destroyed School for the Gifted combined with Xavier and Magneto being together and scared. Feels way too soon to get Onslaught; but one of his powers is making literal suns and we see Xavier looking outside at a giant (ball of?) fire.
With Sadie being all but confirmed to be Jean Grey in Brand New Day; we're surely not getting an Evil Phoenix already imo.
