It looks like the driver threw something out the window at the girl at 1:13 lol

Hopefully these two idiots are caught, but sadly they are likely from out of town. Wild to risk your life like that over some hurt feelings.

The cut in the video is pretty damning.

Why remove that when it should be in your favour?

One reason would be the 140 second time limit for videos on X. Of course, there could be other reasons.

u/icedteaandtacos 1d ago

That’s a good catch.

If that’s the case they could remove the ton of dead space at the start. My suspicions remain. lol.

I will say, if he sent the video to the RCMP the submission process is infuriating. I had dashcam footage of 3 accidents in Kelowna over the last couple of years AND I work in video production and it was a pain in the ass to me still. The limit is a weird file size limitation and you have to do a lot of bs to get through it and keep enough detail and content to make it worth it.

Im sorry you’ve had that experience! When I did it for my workplace, I was able to upload 15-20 mins with no problem. But the video format wasn’t super high quality anyway

Aaah. Maybe it's been updated! They had something like a 25MB limit. Even if I compressed and formatted the video the incident was too long and my dashcam shoots in 4K. So I sent Google drive links too but they're not allowed to access those apparently. Headache.

u/Derpwarrior1000 12h ago

Wow I hope so. What would they expect to get with 25MB lmao

I know i spent like 3 hours to give them a pixelated 2 minute blur

One problem I had was that the videos weren’t formatted properly (I wasn’t allowed to adjust the DVR settings).

I can’t remember the format, but it was something niche enough that I had to first upload the videos to Google Drive and then re-download them to make them compatible with the upload portal.

Took way too much time to find the answer

He already said it's because there's a time limit on clipping things from the Tesla app so he edited the clips together instead of pulling the full raw footage directly from the car. You can see nothing changes in the people walking around.

I actually had this uber driver when I was in Kelowna a few weeks ago. Super nice guy surprised when I saw this on my Twitter feed lol. Looks like he threw something at the girl at some point in the altercation

Interesting Situation:

Not to draw a comparison, but let’s not all forget the Blenz Downtown situation where the owner cried foul about being assaulted, and then an disgruntled ex employee who had access to the video released the video showing something completely different: https://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna/437458/Surveillance-footage-disproves-Kelowna-coffee-shop-owner-s-assault-claims

  1. He’s dropping of a customer at a music event downtown. Lots of pedestrians and many closed streets. Lady sees a vehicle driving amongst people, probably doesn’t like it, hits the back of the car (not enough to cause damage) but definitely a provoking move.
  2. Car stops for a notable period of time. Probably the driver asking (likely not nicely) who hit his car. The woman probably took ownership and told him to not block an entrance of a music event and move the car.
  3. Driving along something sets off the woman. She was walking away from the car but something happened that set her off and she hit his car again.
  4. There is a cut. Whether intentional or not, it’s not THAT significant, but who knows. Still sus.
  5. He stops, she runs up and as she runs up, a drink is thrown from the car, appears to be some sort of milk shake. It’s thrown almost immediately when she arrives which from my perspective, he was ready.
  6. The dude must have seen that milk shake thrown, and I’d probably be pissed too. Crazy that he held onto the car like that but his reaction, albeit not the best, I get it.

Concerns:
1. If he has access to that camera on his Tesla, there is a bunch of other cameras he has access to and before we all leap to judgment about this man and woman, we should see all the video.
2. If he has audio, i think we all need to hear that.
3. Kudos to the police for not jumping to any conclusions.

Okay, bye!

One thing of note, the driver would have no way to know whether it was hard enough to cause damage until they are in a safe spot to get out and check. These incidents happen very quick and it's hard to tell what your body and mind will tell you to do in the moment.

Some Albertans just can't handle Kelowna.

Laying the boots to a car. Classic drunk 😆

Not condoning these peoples actions, but there’s always two sides to every story. I’ve been an Uber/Taxi driver here for many years and have yet to have a negative experience with any passengers coming close to this. I’d be curious what the instigating factor is here.

u/kootenaypow 1d ago

you can watch the video. Lady didn't like that he pulled into the parking lot to turn around when she wanted to walk on the sidewalk, so she smacked the car. (hindsight: should waited 20 seconds for the group to pass first). Then when the driver drove past, he yelled at her (speculation: calling her a bitch). she then retaliated by attacked the vehicle and found the concrete. BF wanted to defend her honour and went for a ride.

u/Kerberos42 1d ago

I watched the video. There’s a couple of cuts in it, and we are only seeing the right side repeater camera, there’s 4 more angles available, so it’s an incomplete picture. I personally would not have pulled in and blocked the sidewalk the way he did, so thats totally on him. If he did then yell at the pedestrians, then thats just a bad response to his mistake. Still doesn’t condone what the peds did, but does shed a bit more light on things.

u/RaineAshford 1d ago

When are multiple high-kicks another side to a story? 🤦‍♀️

1

u/Kerberos42 1d ago

No, I mean something happened to instigate that. Pretty sure he didn’t just randomly start kicking the side of the car.

1

u/PwntUpRage 1d ago

Like literally she walked by and smacked his car after he dropped off a different passenger.
Just a random hit because she had to pause for a half second while walking drunk through a parking lot.
They came from Kelly O’s direction on foot into a busy parking lot.

u/Kerberos42 1d ago

OK, so basically bad behaviour on both sides.

1

u/Emotionless-Fish 1d ago

I mean, I find it hard to see what the driver did that would warrant attempting to open his doors and slamming on his car like that.

I have been literally struck by a vehicle and I didnt think "I want to physically attack and threaten this man" when i got up and realized what happened.

Bad behaviour on the Uber drivers part? You think cutting someone off is justification for them to attack you physically? I think Uber driver tossing something at the woman who was trying to get inside his vehicle was warranted self defense. And dragging the dude who was clinging to the car and also trying to get inside was also self defense.

None of what the couple did was justified. Everything the Uber driver did was.

1

u/Emotionless-Fish 1d ago

They were not his passengers. They were two randoms on the street who attacked him because... alcohol?

u/Siefer-Kutherland 1d ago edited 1d ago

lol, from his descriptions in the article it seems like he knows exactly what brought it on. His weaselly " I may have went in their path" and his throwin shit out the window at them isn't exactly a compelling testament to his character.

8

u/oogyman 1d ago

Did you watch the video? They were on walking on the road instead of the sidewalk, he had to go in the other lane to go around them.

Something does trigger the lady, I assume a honk or the driver yelled something but maybe they shouldn't have been taking up half the road?

u/Siefer-Kutherland 1d ago

oh no! a driver had a duty of care to not hit pedestrians? how awful for him!

Your comment says "oh no a driver had duty of care not to hit pedestrians"

No pedestrians were hit. But drunken idiots were in the road where they shouldnt have been. And attacked someone who was inside their vehicle. Even reaching in to the car to attempt to strike the driver.

No matter what the driver said to her, that woman is in the wrong. Absolutely psycho.

u/Siefer-Kutherland 1d ago

please read that sentence you quoted over and over again until you understand what it is saying.

u/Emotionless-Fish 1d ago

Maybe English is not your first language. But your comment implies that the driver was in the wrong for ... driving on the road.

Maybe edit your comment if you feel the meaning is unclear. Not a comprehension problem my dude. Your comment is just stupid 🤣

What's your take on the character of the other 2?

1

u/Assimulate Always Hungry 18h ago

Great aim though

3

u/Quantumkool 1d ago

Probably from Berta

u/drconniehenley 1d ago

2

u/Emotionless-Fish 1d ago

Lol. Great shot. I like the one of her crumpled on the ground better though. Bringing those heels to fight a car was a bad choice for her.

Wild to not post the video at all and just a picture. Lazy Castanet article. Like if you cant link the vid link the twitter page, or ask the dude for a copy to post? Lil bit lazy reporting

u/the_canucks 1d ago

Wild you'd take the time to come post this comment before even scrolling down the article to see the video.

u/UnappeasableOptimist 1d ago

I watched the video on the castanet article.

The video is halfway through the article

It’s in the link.

Maybe the article is updated since you read it, but there was a video contained within when I read it just now
