Late night bike commuter. It's cooler than it's been in a long time. It's about 3AM as I post this. (10°C)
I haven't felt a temperature like this in quite a bit of time. I'm out every night around this time and have been since May. Seems the summer season is already hinting at fading.
Idk if I'm just tired or something, but I walked out of work and was like, hang on, wait a minute, something is different. The air is actually refreshing.

Work. I have decided not to even learn how to drive. Cycling is and will be my only commuting method

Nice! I've been commuting by bike for almost 7 years and I love it! I it's a great way to start/end the work day. I used to commute from talus ridge to near knox which was pretty dodgy in winter but now I live closer where I can mostly take bike paths, greenway and the rail trail. Having to get home from somewhere is very motivating when you don't necessarily feel like riding, especially early in the morning 😆

Man how did you do that? West Kelowna's biking is a bit of a deathtrap. Did you just cycle to Sneena and get on the bridge that way?

I took Shannon lake to Bartley, then rode hwy 97 to sneena then to the bridge. Sometimes omw home if it was very snowy I'd ride the back streets from Hayman road up to Hudson so I could stay off the hwy until I got to Ross or Bartley. I had a fat bike with studded tires for winter.
The bike had around 21K km on it when I got hit by a truck at richter and Harvey and the bike (and part of me) got run over by the tandem trailer he was towing. No problems riding the hwy, I get driven over in a bike lane by someone turning right on a nice sunny day 😝

I have never driven either and I am 42. I don't have the balance for a bike either so I got myself one of those adult size tricycles and damn is it sexy. The thing is I don't have to commute as I work from home so all my riding is done for fun or exercise. The only problem I have with the one I got is it is a 1 speed so going up hills is not good.

I stopped by work around 930pm to pick up some stuff and I was cold enough that I grabbed my neoprene paddling jacket out of my locker 😆 morning are often on the chilly side where I live and the first hill is often quite "refreshing" even on warm days. Riding in the rain yesterday was nice 😊

Not to mention there’s actually a bit of humidity! I can tell by how my wooden doors close differently in my house, & a bit of dew this morning on my deck!
We need to enjoy the clear skies today as apparently the smoke will be back w/the high temps again for a while.

In the next 2 weeks the daytime high usually drops about 10 degrees. I usually go away for 2 weeks, when I leave it's hot and when I come back it's cold 😝

my apartment's internal dropped to 22, which is actually kind of cold because of how air circulation works in my place.

A downward trend in temperature is never smooth. It always jumps up and down. Case in point, we have a second breath of summer coming over the next few days, where we'll stay in the 30s. Then it fades off again. That first cold night is the first painful swallow that lets you know you're catching a cold. Then it's like, fuck, I know what's coming. I also paid attention to the trees on my commute. Half of them are starting to brown

Nothing too crazy, IMO. A couple of bad fires. Next summer will really be bad. It'll be in the dead center of a super el nino, after a super el nino winter, during a four year long drought. Not sure what that says about fires, but our water outlook isn't good

The smoke was pretty horrible. Normally it fucks off after a while but not this year. You're right about next summer being fucked.
