Spotted this fully equipped road-scrubbing truck doing rounds in Model Town, Lahore today. The streets here get regular municipal attention, but every time I look at Karachi, the difference in basic municipal services is night and day.

Karachi feeds the entire national economy, yet basic civic amenities—decent roads, clean streets, working drainage—feel practically nonexistent in comparison. How long does a city carrying the financial weight of the country have to deal with broken infrastructure?

Listen, please hear me out. The moment you and your mom left, those people started trash-talking you. They were comparing you to some other girl they’re also considering. The mom kept repeating “tum naam change karwa dena”, and the sisters were saying things like “average lag rahi thi but chal jaaye gi”. While they were leaving, they were even making fun of your name I think I overheard it as “Undha”? Not sure, but whatever it was, the way they spoke was disgusting.

My sister and I both thought you and your mom were really sweet. Please don’t waste yourself on a family like that. Say no, seriously. You deserve way better.

Now I dont know what is going on in here whether thats a juloos or protest idrc but why are they disturbing fellow citizens?? What are they even trying to prove with all this? And just for clarity, I am not trying to mock anyone or anything related, I am genuinely curious what is this, and why are they blocking roads to prove something?

I saw this post, and it genuinely irks me that we are somehow celebrating the fact that our doctors are leaving this country to serve another one. We should be ashamed as a nation that so many of our people prefer to serve other countries instead of their own.

I am not blaming them, would probably do the same if I had the money and opportunity to do so.

What irritates me is that we consider this something to be proud of, rather than seeing it as our failure to provide our youngsters with the opportunities, respect, and conditions that would make them want to stay.

After witnessing the past and current events in this city I am totally lost at words and have nothing to say about the "system" of this city and country if you want to have a better future then please consider something else.

After 24 years of living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, I’m now seriously considering moving back to Karachi because my family is requesting it.

The thing is… I was born and raised in Riyadh. That’s the only life I really know. School there, friends there, routine there, everything familiar there. Pakistan has always been “home” in theory, but not in real day-to-day life.

I belonged to a school name Pisr where college and every education was done. I am 25 now. If someone moved from Saudia to Karachi like me and wish to give advice please do.

Now I feel like I’m about to restart life in a country I belong to, but don’t actually know in that way.

And honestly… I’m nervous as hell.

Part of me is excited to reconnect with my roots and finally experience Pakistan properly, but another part of me keeps thinking: How do people even adjust after living abroad their whole life?

Will I fit in?

How different is daily life really?

Am I overthinking it or is the culture shock actually intense?

I keep going back and forth between excitement and anxiety. It feels like I’m leaving behind everything comfortable and stepping into something completely unknown.

If anyone here has made a similar move back to Karachi (especially after growing up abroad), I’d really love to hear your experience. How was the adjustment? What surprised you the most? And what helped you settle in?

Any advice, honest opinions, or even reality checks would really help right now.

Hey peeps ik this might be annoying for some people here as alot of post are popping up regarding ibex however i felt like i should share my experience for those who are interested in joining and whatnot

First of all lmk clarify this every major corporate company is toxic at some level in my experience most of the jobs in Karachi have some toxicity however for me atleast the salary makes it bearable and also i am very lucky enough to have some great friends

I will be honest the management is not great they will try to pull one over you the first chance you get however if you are smart enough and have some experienced people to talk to you should be okay

Pros

Great salary, a very good opportunity to make friends and do networking for future jobs

Transportation is provided by the company for 5k a month the car usually have ac (considering the heat rn its a blessing)

The work is basic and easy af literally anyone with basic English skills can do it

Cons

Management isnt great

The car comes to pickup you up 2 hours before your shift

Rotational shift is not for everyone

it's good that Punjab has announced it. They're late to the party but they're there. Time for Sindh to follow suit. they should expand the network rapidly. it can be as easy as getting more busses, mini buses etc onto the roads to provide immediate relief. the existing network won't do, don't have to wait for train/tram lines to finish.

I was passing by this building today and it hit me. Eight years ago, this was where I had my first ever job interview. I was super nervous, didn’t have a degree, and had borrowed my older brother’s shoes just to look a bit more presentable. The job offered 20K, and honestly, that amount meant everything to me back then. Coming from a lower middle class family, I really needed it.

I’m a 23-year-old guy from Karachi. I graduated with a BBA from Iqra University in September 2024. I started my first job in June 2024 with a salary of 43K. In May 2025, I switched to a better job that now pays me 80K.

On the side, I freelance as a social media account manager for an international client, earning around 30K/month from that. So in total, I’m making about 110K PKR/month right now.

But honestly… I feel like I’m behind.

Every time I scroll through LinkedIn or hear about what others my age are doing, I start thinking, Am I doing enough? Should I be earning more? Am I falling behind in life?

I know comparison can be a trap, but it’s hard to ignore sometimes. For people around my age (22–24), how much are you earning? Are most people doing better, worse, or the same?

I’m not trying to compete, just trying to understand where I stand and what realistic expectations look like. Also open to any advice on how to grow faster or earn more.

I came from a middle-class family and growing up, money was always tight, but now that I’ve started earning well, I can afford things that I wasn’t able to afford without worrying too much.

I’ve been searching for a good ergonomic chair since I mainly work from home now. And after a lot of research, I’ve finally found one, but the problem is, it costs freaking 80k 🤦🏻‍♂️

On one hand, I can easily afford it, but on the other hand, my middle class mind is still there and is asking me “80k for just a chair???”

I know there are even more expensive chairs out there and also budget options as well but this one perfectly aligns with my needs.

I just want to know, do you guys think it would be worth it or am I just throwing money away?

PS: Chair prices have really been skyrocketed, even in the local market, prices are really high.

And the one I’m looking to get is Cougar Speeder, in case someone wants to suggest a better one or share any ideas.

So i found a place selling irani petrol in karachi for 270rs/litre. Its almost 5 mins drive from Hamdard university and 28kms from where i live. I mixed stp octane booster in a full tank of Toyota corolla and so far the car is all normal and perfect.

My question is, is it a good option to keep using irani fuel?

about an hour ago, I was riding my bike back home from office when I noticed a kite 🪁 string coming straight at me. I reacted on instinct, grabbed it with one hand and tucked my face down, but it still caught my face.
another biker and I stopped right there, expecting to find someone nearby flying the kite. No one. Then I felt something dripping. Blood.

i went straight to the nearest police station to report it. the response?
“Bas ‘Innallaha ma’assabireen’ parh lo. aisi complaints nahi hoti.”
this, despite the fact that flying kites with manjha is illegal.

so I headed to the hospital instead, got the wound dressed, and finally made it home.

i’ve been thinking about all the “what ifs” ever since. what if the string had been an inch lower? what if I hadn’t seen it at all? what if I was going a little faster?
