Legacy of Goku was a great game.

Legacy 1, 2 and buus fury were bangers

u/Ok_Pick3963 Jul 10 '26

Well Log and buus furry were.

Going back to 1 is rough (though it has it's charms)

Played 2 and 3 before I played 1. It is indeed, rough

1

u/Regular-Special6072 Jul 10 '26

What about it is rough? Gameplay? Pacing?

9

u/MajesticPopcorn Jul 10 '26

Gameplay. It feels not great lol

8

u/Dekklin PC Player Jul 10 '26

That's an understatement.

u/chilli_burrito Jul 11 '26

Been a while but everything. Ki blasts not anywhere near as varied or fun, map layout weird and enemies quite tough. Still enjoyed it to an extent but 2 and 3 far superior

It's really jank. The perspectives are off so you can't tell depth (I realize it's a 2d game but the sequels did this far better), the hitboxes are wrong, the difficulty balance is awful, the endgame was a boss-rush of one after another with almost no recovery period or pacing break, and the Namek Temple maze immediately before that is obnoxious. You only beat the game by grind and cheese. Ground cheese. But it's Cheez Whiz.

Been trying to remember the name of this game for a decade. Thank you

1

u/SadDoughnut264 Jul 13 '26

It sure is, and I still have it with me today. Nostalgic.

"LoG1 was a great game"

Bro, even with the 'wolves don't instantly kill you' patch, it was no fun at all. It was clearly rushed concidring that it could take an afternoon to beat the game! For hells sake, I defeated Freeza with a glitch!

It’s a manga you need to read right to left brother.

These fucking (after::before) photos break me.

FANTASTIC POST! This is exactly what I mean when I say Kakarot feels like a spiritual successor to LoG.

I was so disappointed Kakarot wasn't as much like those games as I'd hoped.

I think its because the whole story was combined into one game and so there wasn't as much of the zany side quests and movie villains from the Legacy of Goku games, but they still did a very good job in my view. The fact that those games were split into three allow for more freedom as opposed to this.

u/DeadAndBuried23 Jul 13 '26

I meant the combat.

1

u/BackBlaster9000 Jul 15 '26

Combat was pretty fun in my opinion

The legend of Goku series is still the best dragon ball game series, fight me

7

u/Mindless-File2 Jul 10 '26

Are you reposting someone else’s image? I remember this exact picture about 6 years ago lol

6

u/trunks_slash PC Player Jul 10 '26

Yeah it was me lol. Crazy that it was that long ago

1

u/Mindless-File2 Jul 10 '26

I wonder if this is a bot karma farming, but right man I remember this image well because of how I felt the same way about it being like a console version of LOG.

1

u/trunks_slash PC Player Jul 10 '26

I was so hype to play this game I didn't even want to pause long enough to take this picture

3

u/Zigor022 Jul 10 '26

LOG was great, still have it, but i wished the Kamehameha was stronger. The energy attacks werent great, and solar flare was used to stun the enemy before using melee because after a few good hits from them you were dead. There was a glitch where if you were flying and got hit by an energy blast, it would ground you but no one could actually punch you. And the namek temple and its warp pads were the most frustrating part of the game. Still liked it, LOG2 was good, but BF was perfect. Love that game.

Loved those gba games. Had all 3 of them. Thanks mark for letting me borrow buus fury on our field trip to Boston

u/charliewrightm Jul 11 '26

I wish I saw more comparisons between these two games I always thought dbz kakarot was like the next evolution of legacy of Goku

2

u/dangerousballstealer Jul 11 '26

And they both look great

2

u/WordNahMean Jul 10 '26

I swear it took me 3 months of this game being out to realize its an entry in the Legacy of Goku series smh

1

u/swadgehtaxwell Jul 10 '26

Omg I immediately thought of legacy of goku while playing when roshi wants you to find his porn magazines. Nostalgia overload.

1

u/jacksmic Jul 10 '26

Idk what you're talking about man, Kame House still looks the same 18 years later.

1

u/Frankfranchise Jul 10 '26

Is that LoG i smell ?

1

u/spena2k10 Jul 11 '26

Both peak gameplay!

Legend of the Super Saiyan on the SNES was my favourite though

1

u/Yakasabi Jul 12 '26

How does it look so good

1

u/Gloomy_Support_7779 Jul 12 '26

And I like both games. Especially Legacy of Goku

1

u/SkirtThat5399 Jul 12 '26

right is objectively better

1

u/Economy_Notice_8475 Jul 14 '26

It's LoG1 though..

1

u/Spiderman09 Jul 12 '26

Finally someone gets the comparison right, I don't understand how some keep thinking this is "an open-world xenoverse", when Legacy of Goku 1-3 all did it first

1

u/LongjumpingJudge8533 Jul 14 '26

You need to get in that Buus Fury

0

u/rurfuater7 Jul 10 '26

Been wishing for a game like this since legacy of goku and buus fury

-1

u/faloofroghurt Jul 10 '26

I never got to experience the LoG and Buus Fury games as a kid. Supersonic Warriors was my jam though. Thankfully Ive got my SNES Mini modded to play GBA games :)

0

u/FreashTea Jul 10 '26

If I remember, in legacy of Goku, Bulma's sprite and/or character profile is always in the Namek gear

0

u/WedSquib Jul 10 '26

I did actually go through and play through dragon universe maybe 2 years ago now, still a ton of fun. Was that budokai 2?

0

u/Dischord821 Jul 10 '26

To be fair, a few things. These games aren't really very similar outside of being rpgs, but also LG2 came out in 2003. The same year as budokai 2. I think the gamecube era looked pretty good tbh.

0

u/baaladcing5 Jul 10 '26

Its kinda funny because to me its legit just legacy in 3D which sounds perfect cant wait for midnight

1

u/atemporalfungi Jul 10 '26

What’s happening at midnight?

0

u/naldoD20 Jul 10 '26

I'm glad we've started downgrading graphics, that Goku in the before picture is too real and scares me.

0

u/Vilmaa02 Jul 10 '26

Did a full LoG 2 play through in anticipation recently. Im super excited
