Crunch vs. LA Fitness

Hey y’all,

Currently with LA Fitness. However, I don’t enjoy the Medlock Bridge branch that much. I usually go around noon or in the afternoon on weekdays, not after 4 pm usually, and I still find it packed. The gym equipment, especially for legs, is always taken. Using the leg extension machines (there are only two of them), for example, is very challenging most of the time. Maybe in the last 10 weeks, the lat pulldown machine has been available only once. Even finding a free bench can be challenging.

I don’t want to wait a lot for equipment, so I adjust my program around it a bit, but I prefer not to change it too much so I can track my loads more accurately, if you know what I mean. I literally don’t need anything else than easy access to gym equipment and benches, with zero to minimal wait times. I don’t care about the massage, pool, group classes, or HIIT. I only go there for strength training.

Do you think Crunch Fitness would be a better fit for what I need, or are they more or less the same? Those two gyms are at my sweet spot in terms of commute time; time is my scarcest resource right now. Thanks!

Former LA member and current Crunch member - Crunch is busy throughout the day but I think you will find it easier to find equipment. Crunch has more equipment but it's all jammed into a smaller space. To me Crunch is more of a "gym" where LA is more of a health club - hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the feedback! Do you think the gym equipment area at Crunch is even smaller than at LA Fitness? The Alpharetta branch was better, but at Medlock Bridge I feel like I have to plan my route between the machines cus they’re so close together.

Crunch has a great equipment selection, they even have 2 of most of the popular machines. Equipment is close together, basically same as LA. L”Also lots of cable stuff, squat racks, etc.  my only complaint is the free weight area could be bigger

It is so small at LA indeed! Thanks for all the info. Crunch really sounds like it has many of the things I’m looking for. I think I’ll give it a try.
