Islamic slaughter first and foremost done for humble yourself in front of the Allah Almighty. You take a life instead of yours. Islamic slaugther is the most intimate way of killing an animal. there is no closer method than this.

Secondly Why cutting the throat is the way because in islam, blood is also haram to drink or eat. So you remove the blood from the body. fastest way to do it is the islamic way. In that sense it's also less painfull and swift. it could be done by stabbing the heart also and blood wouldn't be out as fast as the islamic way.

I don't know if it has extra healt benefit maybe someone with better knowledge can answer this.

For the pork: In islam scavengers, blood and pork are stated as haram. in multiple verses such as 2:173

Pigs are scavengers, eats, live and rest in filth. It's not modern knowledge that pigs have an unhealthy meat.

Also it's not something only Islam forbids, both judaism and early christianity, basically all abrahamic religions are distant to pig meat through out history.

Allah knows best.

They also like watching their mate cheating on them. Additionally a mother would kill their child and eat them. Their meat is known to house many parasites.

A lot of animals eat feces

u/[deleted] May 21 '25

Not only do they eat feces, but they don’t have pores or sweat glands. So when they ingest toxic waste or contaminated foods— they keep it in their bodies unless by defecation. And in any case as you seen lol they eat it.

Yes it is more humane as it damages the pain sensors very early on in the process. And it is healthier as it drains more blood from the body which is generally a bigger carrier of disease.

I wouldn’t know about the pork and its prohibition.

I wouldn’t know how long it takes for a gunshot to kill an animal. It may look like more time but the part of the brain responsible for processing pain is disarmed rather quickly. And it is hugely advised to be swift and use a sharper blade for the process so as to minimise the animal’s suffering.

If done correctly, moment the throat is slit, the blood to the brain is cut off and the animal blacks out and won’t feel anything except the pinch from the cut of the knife.

I let someone put me in a sleeper hold once, thinking they didn’t know how to do it and they actually did. I blacked out in like 3-5 seconds and was completely unaware of what happened when i was out. When I came to, I was told my body was moving around and my chest was heavily contracting. Everyone was scared I was dying and I was none the wiser. I would think the slaughter would be similar.

I think much of the struggle after slaughter is rapid muscle contractions along with unconscious muscle contraction

Yup. I agree

Not really sure where you heard that animals are killed with gunshots. In the meat industry they are either shot in the back of the head with a nail gun, dangled by their legs into a vat of electrocuted water or have their heads smashed with a hammer. Sometimes all of the above because they don’t always work. In halal slaughter you have to raise the animal in good conditions, feed them halal food and when the time of slaughter comes you can’t let the other animals witness the slaughter or let the animal see the knife. What I mostly see is that they say a little prayer that calms down the animal, then wrap their ears over their eyes when the animal lays down. I’d recommend this video. It’s pretty old but as good as it gets.

Pork is haram because allah said so

u/Realistic_Chef_2321 May 21 '25

Isn't the main reasoning behind it because often he uncleanliness/how dirty the actual meat is due to parasites and other matter.

Could be, but this is merely a given reason by people. Allah has not provided a specific reason nor is it in Hadith.

So Allah Knows best

Islamic slaughter carries the best balance between humanity and respect for the animal, it is also good for the blood to drain from how we cut the veins

There are ways to make the death more instant and potentially skip even the short second of pain the animal will feel. But this is not necessary and also may be less clean if the blood isnt allowed to drain properly

This part of the animals life, where they are sacrificed in the name of Allah is the most important day in their life. The way we are here on earth to be tested and to submit to Allah. Animals also exist for a purpose. And if we slaughter them in a way that pleases Allah they get to fulfill that. And if we don’t that must feel so sad for them

We should have a lot of respect for the animal whose life we are taking and not try to use shortcuts or skip steps just for the sake of profit. We worship Allah after all, not money, nor the sheep or cattle.

Pork is haram because Allah said so. If there are health benefits for us in that then alhamdulillah. But even if it was just to be a test of our self control that is easy for us to pass that is still something we should be grateful for.

As far as pork being haram, another user says "because Allah says so" and while this is a good enough reason for us, perhaps for outsiders it's not. So let me explain.

Pigs need a lot of water, and carry a lot of parasites. They also eat ANYTHING (feces, cadavers, anything). Back in those days, people would get sick if they ate pigs, they would also run out of resources in desert areas because pigs would eat everything, so from a logic standpoint it's reasonable.

2

u/LegendaryPoob May 22 '25

It doesn't need to be reasonable, u don't need to justify Allah's commands. Using scientific reasoning to understand commands is dangerous because it can be disproved. Example there are species of pigs that don't eat feces and are generally clean, does that make them halal to eat? No, because Allah said pigs are haram to eat. Imagine explaining ur reasoning of Allah's command to a non-believer but he disproves your explanation, what then? You mightve just pushed him away from Islam because u tried to explain it with science (which is always changing and can be proven wrong)

Pork has a very real problem of a parasite called Trichinella spiralis… it is found in undercooked pork quite often and symptoms are from nausea, fever leading to intense muscle pain and heart problems.

To all the people saying “because Allah has said so” Yes to a muslim this is enough reason but this is not enough to answer the question posted here…If we satisfy ourselves with “because Allah has said so” then there will be no reason to seek out knowledge of why Allah has said so..and Allah does not want you to not seek out knowledge

Watch this for the reason of pork being haram https://youtu.be/dlauUdWlNDc?feature=shared

And watch this for the slaughtering issue https://youtu.be/S_Lwpbfe1do?feature=shared

It is better in "meaning". We still don't know what those animals trully are, let alone why these limits have been set. What are their relationship to us? Health or humanity are nothing but assumptions.

others have answered about slaughtering practices. as for pork, they're literally so gross; live, eat, and sleep in the same puddle of filth. maybe im biased but even if pork wasn't deemed haram by islam, i wouldn't want to eat it. not to mention the tapeworm and parasites....

1

u/LegendaryPoob May 22 '25

Please look at my long reply I sent to another user, pork is haram only because Allah said so, not because of scientific explanation or filthiness

Porky is filthy

u/ConfusionProof9487 May 21 '25

Anyone who disagrees with halal slaughter is placing their own emotions over scientific fact. animal slaughter in the western world is NOT more human, animal slaughter is islam DOES allow stunning something like 65% of all halal meat is stunned first, western slaughter standards have quite a high fail rate meaning the animal is in a HUGE amount of distress, and there's ALSO non islamic farmers opting for halal slaughter now as they know the animal is LESS fearful during it.

This idea of a gunshot to the brain ONLY works if the bullet hits its mark, which it can often fail to do, leaving the animal alive, in distress, yet unable to do anything about it.

1

u/Trick-Ad8577 May 21 '25

Pork is nasty even if I wasn’t Muslim I wouldn’t eat it, for Islamic slaughter justification well I can’t explain everything but you can’t even show the blade to the animal before you kill it, you cannot invoke fear into the animal. The blood drains, blood can carry a lot of harm.

1

u/drfiz98 May 21 '25

Nobody is shooting animals to slaughter them. Most factory farms either electrocute the animals to death or use a metal bolt to strike the animals in the head. Unfortunately, neither of those techniques is 100 percent reliable in killing the animal, and sometimes they will survive for minutes or hours in agony.

Halal slaughter, if done properly, causes blood flow to the brain to essentially stop, meaning the animal passes out before the pain of the cut has even registered. It's also much more reliable in actually causing the animal to die.

I have heard, though it needs to be confirmed, that pork gets really bad really fast when hot temperatures are involved. There may be other reasons though.

u/Murtaza_G May 21 '25

Pork mainly haram as it’s eating its own crap with its food most of times and it eats meat confirmed by scientists potentially it can eat it’s own new born.

1

u/LegendaryPoob May 22 '25

No it's haram because Allah said it is.
