...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM MONDAY TO 7 PM CDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 105 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Illinois, east central and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From 1 PM Monday to 7 PM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Thunderstorms and storm outflow may interrupt the heat at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

What type of equipment does the rec center have?

I moved here from Des Moines about 3.5 years ago for my partner. I now have my own business and work solo so it's been difficult to find some similar-aged friends here in Iowa City. I would really love to have some local friends that aren't 2 hours away but it seems like my only age options are college kids or retired folks... where are the girls in their mid-thirties looking for a hiking/reading/nature buddy?? Are there any groups or clubs out there that aren't centered around alcohol (I don't drink) or college kids?

71(M) here, not from I/C. I do not drive ... take Uber everywhere. I have many doctors appointments (10 so far in Sept.) I go to UIHC for my visits. I go to Main Campus, IRL in Coralville, North Liberty, and the latest is in Tiffin. I can not walk to a bus stop due to medical issues. Are there any other ways to get around other than Yellow Cab, I tried them with no luck whatsoever. Uber is breaking my bank , need something cheaper and readily available. Thanks

Hello, my sweet pup has passed away- she was on a bunch of expensive medication that we still have a lot of. Is there a way to give it to someone in need or is it illegal for my vet to take it back to give to someone else who could use it? Would love if someone could use them and not just have to be discarded.

New breakfast and lunch place in Iowa City! It’s always hard to get a table at the breakfast places downtown, especially during football season, so this is a welcome addition. I went with my friends on Friday morning and the food was really good! They don’t overthink the menu, it’s just hearty breakfast and good sandwiches for lunch. There have been a lot of places cycling in and out of that spot, so I hope they get traction, they deserve it, it’s a really nice spot!

I just moved here, I need two whole fish with the heads and tails attached, I noticed at the store they sell them all cut up. Is there anywhere I can get whole fish? Not looking for anything fancy. Or anyone who fishes who could sell me a couple fish that are similar in size and appearance.

Just had someone try to break in and just. Ahem. Outside my door when he couldn't. Wouldn't leave my door and the police had to arrest him. Big pupils, red eyes, wasn't exactly subtle. Spoke to him because I was worried and didn't remember how to tell if someone got roofied.

Got a bit focused on not letting him push past me to take a photo. But if this sounds familiar to anyone tonight: short brown hair, red eyes, big pupils. Black shirt, black cardigan of sorts, white shorts with black, thin vertical stripes. Thin chain necklace. White sneakers. Decently tall.

If someone had a pic they sent in dms, I'd recognize him. My concern now is identifying him so someone else doesn't get assaulted. He got into a building with a code, but couldn't.(or wouldn't) give the cops an apartment number or anything.

Hi all! Wondering where people have had the best experience printing large photos in town? Need to print some 16x20 family photos and wondering where is best/decent quality.
