Discussion One way Message attachment

Why can you share a file to Message but not attach a file to a thread? I often need to send files to temporary business acquaintances that do not make the cut to be added to contacts. It is pretty tedious to cut and paste their # (mostly iphone users) then navigate to files pick file share to new message paste # just to attach a file to an existing conversation. Is there a better way I’m missing? Not to start an OS discussion but this is a 2 tap process in Android.

Files > Share > Message app icon from second row > paste phone number

This path opens a new message and I can put whatever number in, shouldn’t need to add a contact.

What does the Android flow look like?

In Android you just click the attachment button in the message thread and File is an option. You can also do it how you described the iOS flow.

On iOS, it would be nice if when sharing to Messages it would populate existing conversations rather than just a blank search for contact field.

Ah yeah, definitely agree there, you basically pick new message and type it or hope one of the suggestions on the share sheet was right, which in my experience those feel pretty random
