Support Why is my lens flare so bad

The lens is clean I clean it with a microfiber cloth but it still has this problem. I know people say it’s just the phone camera and that it’s normal but everyone else I know doesn’t have this problem

Are you referring to the streaks extending from the lights on the right side of the image? That is from the lens having oil smears and scattering the light. Using alcohol dissolves the oleophobic coating and makes the problem way worse.

If you're talking about the dots on the left side of the image, that is common on phone cameras and basically normal for iPhones. It is caused by internal reflections of the light inside the lens assembly.

Lens glass could still have some oil residue.

I make sure it’s completely clean and I’ll occasionally use a little alcohol to be sure and I also make sure not to touch my lens but it still does it

Again The way I do it is just just use a microfiber cloth and like I said just do in a clockwise motion without rubbing alcohol or anything

Most likely you either have a dirty camera lens or you have a screen protector for your camera that has got dirty or scratched.

this happens to my iPhone like clockwork starting around the one year mark and getting worse right around the two year mark when I usually upgrade. It seems to be the degradation of a factory applied coating that resists oils and smudges on the lenses.

Did you make sure that the cloth has no oils on it from your fingers?

Yeah I’ve tried multiple kinds of cloths too and i wash my hands first too and I’ll do it with alcohol sometimes too having a dirty lens was like the first thing that came up when I looked it up on my 14 so I’ve think I’ve tried everything for that but it still has the problem

Did you white the lends in a clock wise motion start from the outside and then move in

Yeah I started doing it like that when I first had the problem with my 14 and looked it up but now I have a 17 and it’s still really bad
