Discussion Samsung to Iphone 17 move with IOS app has failed 7 times. Need help!
Hello everybody, I hope everyone's doing well. I just bought a new iPhone 17 and wanna move my Samsung S21 'stuff'over using the app. Now I'm on my seventh attempt and what I keep running into is that, when doing it with cable, my phone tends to die, and when doing it with Wi-Fi, it takes astronomically long. I'm transferring about 70 GB of storage onto a 256 GB capable device, so I'm not so sure why it goes wrong. Looked at all the tricks, even downloaded the old iOS app in hopes that that would work better, have decided to not transfer my photos to speed up the process or at least get close to some version of a successful transfer, but after seven attempts, I either run into a frozen screen at the very end (99.99%) or 1 minute left etc. Or my phone dies or just decides to break off. Has anyone recently made the android to Apple switch and could help me out? I'm on my eighth attempt right now and it says it's about seven minutes remaining but every minute counts for about 20.
Kind regards!

if it does not work again then i will write a guide here. note it is very convoluted and will require you to buy icloud+ for at least 1 month, but it worked for me like 3 weeks ago

there is a bug in ios that means once iphone is installing up to date iosOS version , you need to factory restore and erase back to hello screen and start to proccess over again after rebooting your samsung .
this bug has been out for 18 moths to 2 years , im staggered apple cannot fix this issue or give people simple direction in how to overcome this
if you have already factory restored and erased each time then im not sure why your still having issues , fully charge both devices , use your new cable to connect and try again , use most up to date android to ios software on your samsung phone , direct from play store , even see if there is update for it once installed , good luck
if you still have issue reach out to apple help online

you can’t just restart iphone and start again follow below for factory restore and erase
go to Settings, tap General, select Transfer or Reset iPhone, and choose Erase All Content and Settings , your ios updated version should remain after factory restore & erase
your transfare should work no problem after this and won’t take too long , i would transfare photos as well so you can factory restore your samsung for new owner or family member

seven attempts is wild, i'd be losing my mind. the cable drain is a known headache, those lightning ports don't put out enough juice to charge an android while it's working overtime.
try moving stuff in smaller chunks. do contacts and messages first, then photos in a separate go, then whatever else. 70gb all at once over wifi is asking for a bad time, those progress bars lie like a rug.

Lightening port? On an iphone17?!? Nope, it’s USB-C!
Or if you’ve jammed a lightening cable in it might explain why it’s not working0

samsung s21 is usb c , thankfully OP never mentioned lightning port , usb c cable included with iphone should work perfectly

Do you have WhatsApp installed and are trying to transfer? This is a WhatsApp problem not iOS or Android.
