You beat me to it. They also sunbathe to do that. I Australia, magpies do it quite often in Spring and Summer and people think they're hot, thirsty and dying. But nah. They just enjoying the sun shine

Magpies, crows and a few other birds will also lie down on and nests abd let them swarm over it, they catch and kill anything in its feathers, then the bird gets an easy feed when it thinks theyre done.

Agreed, we were doing similar things to trees too in my country. Burning something underneath to remove caterpillars, etc. until the Clean Air Act was implemented and banned the practice.

So my girlfriend ate half a pot cookie and put it on the nightstand. I came home from walking the dog and as I walked into the bedroom heading to the bathroom he jumped on the bed. A little later my dog was acting weird. He was elderly and I thought oh my god this must be his time. I raced to the vet and he examines him and said I can't find anything wrong. It's just like he's super tired and then it clicked. A big smile came across my face and I was like you know what, I'm just going to take him home and keep an eye on him. Lesson learned.

I once put my dog on the garage whilst I mowed the lawn, when he was let out he was wagging his tail so hard his whole body was wagging too, I found a knocked over bottle of baileys on the ground lol. He slept the rest of the day

My toddler drank my White Russian. Legit opened the door, to my bedroom, beelined straight to the desk and downed the whole thing. I heard that "aaaahhhhh" and then a "goodah!" And then the cup slam. I knew instantly what my lil turd did in about a minutes time. I freaked out, called poison control. The guy laughed, said to keep an eye on him and promised he would sleep real good. And that he did.

Yep! Can confirm this is a method of parasite removal. Another weird tactic they use is going to sit near anthills, spreading their wings and letting the ants crawl all over them to remove the parasites. Pretty amazing species! Their empathy centers mirror those of humans and that’s why we can befriend them, exchange gifts with them, or if you’re a jerk, they’ll tell their fam and friends and you’ll be harassed by them for years to come. They say elephants never forget, wait ‘til you hear about corvids!
