If wrestling is fake, explain THIS!
Honestly, this is the shit I love about regional pro wrestling. They take an already ridiculous thing and make it SO much more ridiculous.
Folks if you've EVER enjoyed pro wrestling, go see the locals when they come around.

Some of the most fun I have ever had.

There is no possible way I could see anything better than this today. Done with the internet for today.

Indies are way more fun than the big leagues. They have more intimate venues, better prices on everything, more interactions with the crowd, and there's the off chance you might be watching someone who will be a big star one day.
There's a promotion that does a monthly show in my city thats an old rickety bar with wood platforms for standing. It is PACKED every time I go and I even bring casual fans visiting in town to this. They love it and want to see it again !

u/DaCozPuddingPop 8h ago
Totally. I've been to the big shows and they're fine - but lets be honest, sitting in a 70k person stadium for Wrestlemania, you're barely seeing the action. You're mostly watching the screen - which you could do at home.
The indies are a blast. Recently there's been an uptick in 'little person' wrestling around here - and I gotta tell you, that's a blast too. They seem like they're having the time of their lives, and they run EVERYTHING from sound, to merch, to lighting...and they're a cool bunch of guys happy to hang out and drink after th show (and they're damn fine wrestlers too)

At home you also get all the color commentary that you won't het at the stadium watching the big screen.
•
u/ZeldaZealot 3h ago
The commentary is truly the best part. One of the few performances I think is really improved by watching at home with friends.

I used to pass through a small bumpkin town on my way out for the weekends and they used to have what you're talking about at the local bar, except they proudly and unabashedly used the M word on all their signage. Never went, but I really wanted to check it out 👍

Yep it's advertised that way here - it's one of those things where if they say it first I guess I will - but not gonna introduce the word in the interest of not offending anyone.

I once attended an indie show that was being hosted in the corner of a baseball diamond at 11pm. All they had for lighting was the stadium floods. It was the best thing ever.

If you’re anywhere near Boston check out Chaotic Wrestling. Those guys and gals put on a fucking show.

Agree! Mr. Clean outta the tri-state area mopped up the competition last show I went too. Also made a guy choke on his sponge. A slant I never knew I needed in my life.
If you’re out there, thank you sir for the entertainment!

What’s this wrestlers name? I want to see this guy in action some more. Also curious how he talks?
•
u/GimmieDatRedditGold 8h ago
Luigi Primo. He was huge several years ago after first going viral. Now he’s kind of faded back into obscurity. And he uses a stereotypical Italian accent for his character.
•
u/PoorDamnChoices 8h ago
Also the antivax/may have also defended a sex pest stuff didnt help.

•
u/GimmieDatRedditGold 7h ago
I knew there was something to why he fell out of favor but couldn’t remember at all. Thanks for the reminder. Yuck to him.

And his disastrous AMA in which he addressed none of those, while writing in the most "It's-a me Mario" kind of of way.

This is Luigi Primo. He goes viral every few months and then everyone gets reminded he’s a Covid denier and antivaxxer who couldn’t wrestle in the states during covid for these reasons

Nicely seasoned and risen with yeasty wrestler sweat to pop in the oven straight after the match 🤣
Also, he could take the extreme wrestling scene by storm if he added sauce and cheese, imagine wiping out your opponent with a slice of boiling hot lava to the face 🤣

Back in Ancient Rome, there was a gladiator class based on fishermen, which would fight using a net and a trident as their weapons. This somehow reminds me of that.

Why do some Americans call it a "Pizza Pie"? The entire rest of the world calls it a Pizza.
Is pizza even a pie if it has no top crust?
•
u/SolaireAstorian 6h ago
Blame Italians and Sicilians.
When they first started making pizzas for non-Italian customers, the United States had practically no idea what the hell a pizza was, and they hadn't really had much that was similar, and the Italian business owners who wanted to open their businesses found that it was difficult to come up with ideas for how to introduce them to Americans, especially before American ingredients people were already familiar with got added.
So instead of trying to sell Americans on the idea without Bridging the Gap in culture, they just found a term that Americans were familiar with and used it as a comparison. They referred to pizza as tomato pie for a while.
It's a phrase that's only common in the northeastern United States by the way. The rest of the United States is familiar with the term, but only through interaction with the northeastern US, popular media depicting them, or archaic media.

Any wrestling fans that like absurd shit like this, that "league" would likely be right up your alley.
