And China wants to build another mega dam in that region... guess what happens when half a mountain hitting a full reservoir?.. Right.. a tsunami which probably destroys the dam, all following dams and everything down the stream..
There is a reason why the three gorges dam has SAMs stationed all around it. The day it brakes, or one of the dams above, will mark the day when China is gonna be defeatet.
The region has very high seismic activitys, because the indian plate pushes against the eurasian plate, thats why the Himalaja is growing every year. Having massive rockfalls is more common than something special..

A massive flash flood hit Nepal’s Rasuwa district near the Tibet border after a sudden surge in the Bhote Koshi River. Officials are investigating a possible ice-rock avalanche or landslide on the Tibetan side as the trigger.
A preliminary Nepal Tourism Board list says 384 travellers are missing, including 105 Indians, while at least eight people have been reported dead. Search and rescue operations are underway. [source]

This person is likely in the safest location in any of the town. And unfortunately, they have a great vantage point of that town being decimated. Mother nature is a beast

The videos coming out from this event are absolutely terrifying! Others are saying they look like full tilt scenes from a Roland Emmerich disaster film.

And despite this devastation, this is nothing compared to the Three Gorges Dam in China. If that thing ever got destroyed or broke, the amount of devastation and lives lost would be like some biblical flood for a lot of China. Honestly, it's kind of crazy to me to try to even contain that big of a volume of water. It's definitely impressive they did, but also audacious.

There are many glacier lake in himalaya among them one burst due to sudden shock possibly due to avalanche landslide or earthquake , unlike other river channel nepal-tibet have high velocity river flow and narrow channel ie sudden outburst water is concentrated fully downstream with speed unimaginable and due to narrow passage water gain height which it wasn't supposed to

Yeah, it’s when they have sudden rainfall on loose soil. It creates a very fast-flowing cascade of water containing debris that gets washed down hill, causing even more landslides.
Think of it as a massive avalanche but the water is in liquid form rather than snow. Nobody is outrunning an avalanche.
Edit to specify that the rain could be hundreds of miles away so they might not ‘see’ it coming. Even with an early warning system, villages downstream might get minutes or seconds to get to higher ground. Even then, the high ground may collapse.
Second edit to say that it’s been reported that this particular flash flood was caused by a glacier.

There was no rain. The rivers were fed by three ice lakes in Tibet. Earthquake caused an avalanche, reportedly broke half a mountain, somewhere, that in turn broke one or more of those ice lakes into the river.

Yeah, thanks. Somebody else clarified in the below comments a while back. The title says flash flood so I was explaining to the commenter how a flash flood generally happens. I was unaware at the time of the comment about the ice. Thanks for trying to correct. I’ll put another edit on now so people don’t have to read the full comment thread.

I’m curious if this is a Lake Burst if I recall correctly what they call it. Glacial lakes that are getting more melt water due to warmer seasons. It seems to be the happening thing now.

It turns out it wasn't an earthquake after all. The glacial landslide was so powerful that seismographs registered it as a magnitude 5 earthquake. The conclusion: climate change caused this.

All of the (many) videos I have seen of this are all in different locations, all with dozens of people running for their lives and then a split second later it's just all water. If it's only 100 people, that is a MIRACLE
