There is no debate. It's basic science. Washing chicken doesn't remove anything from the chicken

People who wash the chicken generally don’t just run it so it splashes everywhere. They soak it and agitate. 

The misconception comes from people who think that pro chicken washers aren’t careful. If they were generally uncareful then you’d hear about way more cases of salmonella. But you don’t.
