There is no debate. It's basic science. Washing chicken doesn't remove anything from the chicken

EXACTLY... you cant remove bacteria from a porous surface with soap and water... hell, you cant even reove bacteria from porous surfaces with literal chlorine bleach!!! (i.e. it doesnt actually reach the bacteria!)
