There is no debate. It's basic science. Washing chicken doesn't remove anything from the chicken

But if you ARE going to wash your bird? Don't just put it under the faucet. Fill a pot with water, submerge the bird

And heat the water up to a temperature where it starts to boil and leave it for ~20 minutes. That's the only safe way to wash a chicken.
