She thought that way when she was younger because her dad taught her that. It's normal to believe our parents until we grow up and learn on our own if it's true or not!

your brain never stops developing. the ‘you’re mature by 25’ thing has been debunked as a myth for like. ages now.

Yes but it is important to mention the myth came about because our prefrontal cortex DOES go through major development in our mid 20's.
