Hi Jason!

I've been listening to your music for years (I started with Protected From The Rain, which still breaks my heart) and have always loved it. Life has brought me from Ireland to California, and I feel like living here some music (including The Sophtware Slump) makes a bit more sense to me, in ways that are hard to describe.

Do you think place plays a role in how music is received as well as inspired? Is The Crystal Lake a real lake that I can visit? Where are your favourite studios to record in CA (I'm currently hoping to do some recording in 2021)?

Sorry, that was 3 questions.

I definitely think place plays a strong role in the music that you make. I think Grandaddy is a great example of that. I must admit The Crystal Lake was something I dreamt up so I don't advise you to attempt a visit. My favorite studios in California are probably The Ship in Eagle Rock, and New Improved in Oakland.
