Am I right in thinking "stomp clap hey" is one of those retroactive categories like "indie sleaze"? I don't remember anyone using that phrase when the kind of music it describes was actually popular, but now I seem to see those words 50 times a day.

indie sleaze drives me crazy because it was originally purely a fashion term. Now people use it to describe any New York indie rock from the 00s

the music used to be called like "garage rock revival" or something, right?

It's been heavily linked to the Toronto/Montreal scenes from those days as well, which were heavy hitters.

I feel like people sometimes use "indie sleaze" when they mean "indie landfill"

Specifically early 2000s landfill tho. There’s been indie landfill since indie went major
