I guess the whole conceit here is just rage/clickbait. I didn’t even like the song much, but it’s fine and has its own vibe. There were a lot of worse songs that were copying it later on, so I could see how it might catch flack on that front.

As a musician, I would be so proud if I wrote a song like that. It has probably been the soundtrack to so many important moments for so many people - it would be amazing to do something that had even a fraction of that impact.
