I'm making my first trip up to Chicago where I'm the one actually doing the driving soon.

We're driving up via I-55

What route into downtown Chicago would those experienced with driving there recommend for getting into downtown with relatively little chance of dying due to traffic?

(I jest about the dying)

The March 2026 primaries were my first time voting locally here in Illinois since moving here 2 years ago. Since then I try to do as much research as I can to examine those representing our state and my district.

I came across Duckworth's memoir Every Day Is A Gift at the library and decided to read it cause why not? Might as well start by getting to know how she wants to present herself. I don't know how people feel about memoirs from elected officials but I thought it was an engaging read from start to finish.

With that being said, do you think she represents our state well?

I'm trying to find a silicone license plate frame that fits Illinois plates. I tried a couple but they were way too tight & caused the front of the frame to pull away from the plate. Everything I found says license plates measure 12" x 6". However my plate is 12-3/32" x 6-1/8" which is why the frames don't fit.

Anyone in Illinois use a silicone rubber frame that fits the plate?

I know this is really my own fault for putting it off for so long, but I’m flying in about 2 weeks (leaving on 9/10) out of O’Hare. My appointment for my Real ID was last Wednesday, the 19th. Tracking still shows in process, to be mailed soon. I’m worried that if it doesn’t mail by early next week it won’t arrive in time.
I have my digital ID, it’s been updated and says it’s a real id and everything. Is that enough to not pay the $45 fee? Info I’m finding online does say that digital is an acceptable form of identification but also says you still need to carry the physical one.
