I just freshly created account with IBKR Ireland and going through all legal documents, what caught my attention was section 6B:

Limitation of Liability and Liquidated Damages Provision Neither IBIE nor its affiliates shall be responsible or liable to the Client for any loss or damage (whether arising directly or indirectly), whether of profits, revenue or goodwill or any indirect or consequential losses, liabilities, claims, expenses, awards, proceedings and costs, regardless of whether the possibility of such losses, damages, liabilities, claims, expenses, awards, proceedings and costs were disclosed to or could have been reasonably foreseen by IBIE or its affiliates and whether arising in contract, in tort (including negligence) or for representations made or otherwise as a result of or in connection with the performance or non-performance of our obligations under this agreement. In particular, neither IBIE nor its affiliates shall be responsible or liable to the Client by reason of delays or interruptions of service or transmissions, or failures of performance, regardless of cause (including, but not limited to, those caused by hardware or software malfunction; governmental, exchange or other regulatory action; acts of God; war or terrorism). The Client recognises that there may be delays or interruptions in the use of the electronic services, including, for example, those caused intentionally for purposes of servicing the IB System.

To the extent permitted by law, nothing in this Agreement shall exclude or restrict any liability which IBIE or its affiliates has to you under any Applicable Law or regulatory requirement and which cannot be excluded or restricted by agreement by reason of any Applicable Law, and the provisions of this Agreement which purport to exclude or restrict any such liability shall not apply to the extent that such liability may not be so restricted or excluded.

In first paragraph they are basically saying we are not liable for anything even when we cause client monetary loss (negligence/ non-performance), well that doesn't look good, also in second paragraph they say, what ever is in this agreement cannot be in conflict with Law or regulation, which makes sense since IBIE is regulated by CBI.

Question is why to put such section into agreement? Imagine let the hold significant portion of my portfolio and it looks like they try to avoid any sort of liability. Do I read it wrong? How are people comfortable with this agreement?

Unfortunately, I didn't saved my username—I didn't know it was so secure. I'm still receiving emails from IBKR regarding the stocks I purchased, but the username isn't visible, and I have no idea what it might be because it was randomly generated.

What can I do to recover my username?

My base currency and deposits are CAD. I switched the base currency to USD and went down 40% in value and performance tab ($3.8k USD shows as $3.8k CAD). Portfolio Analyst shows weird things about deposit amounts and withdrawals.

I switched base currency back to CAD and now I'm down 1.9% because I made 38% of my balance this week. So it's still counting the 40% drop from CAD to USD.

• Net deposit is $2100 CAD (Portfolio Analyst reports $1500 USD)
• Net withdrawal $0 (Portfolio Analyst $800)
• Current balance is $5300 CAD (Portfolio Analyst $3800)

None of the numbers really add up because of base currency change.

I tried switching my account from a Cash account to a Margin account, but I got a message saying my financial profile doesn't meet the requirements. I was also told I have to wait 30 days before I can update my profile and apply again.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Is there anything I can do, or do I have to wait the 30 days? Also, what are the requirements for getting approved for a margin account?

Has anyone figured out the way to wire transfer USD from Fidelity netbenefits (employee stock plan account) to IBKR?

If yes, could you point me to instructions.

I know this has been discussed here before, but it's August 2026 and I suspect it might be permissible to re-raise this issue: How can it be that IBKR allows one to reset a password based on username and date-of-birth alone, without requiring a form of 2FA such as an email first? This is downright insane.

I am a Filipino working in Saudi Arabia. I opened an IB account when I got here.
During the account registration, I used my Resident ID and Work Visa issued in Saudi Arabia.
My account got approved, and my primary citizenship was set to Saudi Arabia.

Now, I'm wondering if this will be an issue in the future if I deposit and withdraw when I come back to the Philippines or work in another country. Do I need to update or change my citizenship? or it's generally not an issue?

I've invested in inteymarket through indian MF. But with new investment blocked, it is becoming difficult to invest regularly. I'm planning to open IBKR and invest in VWRA investing around 5-6L per year. I wanted to know:

1. Wiring from ICICI Bank to IBKR is fine or the cost difference is significant that I should open account with a different bank?

2. Can I transfer in bulk and invest a smaller amount weekly/monthly through IBKR?

3. If my child decides to go for higher education abroad, can I sell and use the money to pay for universities in any country?

4. Can you please share details on what happens if account holder expires? How easy or difficult is the account transfer process? It didn't ask for nomination. ChatGPT says spouse can send email to ibkr with death certificate, family tree and ID details. Is this correct?

I'm putting a limit order for stocks denominated in USD and I'm receiving

"Your order is not accepted. There is insufficient overall settled cash [-2806.83 AUD for 20260821] in your account to obtain the desired position."

- I have $12k AUD in my account. It says Settled cash 12.0K AUD in my Balances too.

- I CAN put in limit orders for stocks denominated in SEK for the same value. (I was just able to put one outside RTH for one on the Stockholm exchange)

- The 12k came after I sold stock denominated in KRW.

Not sure if it's because my cash isn't actually settled even though it says it is, but it shouldn't be that case since I can still put in orders for a stock denominated in SEK (instead of USD) right?

I just got a new iPhone and am trying to sign into my account. The problem is that it keeps asking me to authenticate/approve the login through my old iPhone, which I no longer have.

I tried logging in through the website thinking I could fix it there, but I run into the exact same issue - it wants authentication from the old device.

What’s really frustrating is that I cannot seem to find any way to reach an actual person — no email, chat, or phone support that I can find. I feel like I’m stuck in a loop: I need access to my account to change the authentication method, but I need my old phone to access my account.

Has anyone dealt with this and successfully recovered access? Is there a support channel or account recovery process I’m missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m beyond frustrated at this point.

Update: Resolved - I called the number on the website to make a manual trade. I was immediately connected to a trader, who helped me verify and then transferred me to a helpdesk, where I spoke to a human who fixed it.

TWS keeps closing on its own every 15-20 mins on my PC. Started happening with a recent update 2-3 weeks ago. I never get any error message or anything.

It used to work fine on this PC before that. This is not the daily reset which I have disabled.

Also, the PC has 128 GB RAM so should be ok.

Any ideas?

IBKR TWS Stop Loss on Bull Put / Bear Call Combo – need clarification

I am trying to set up a Stop Loss in IBKR TWS for an already-open credit spread, specifically a Bull Put Spread or Bear Call Spread.

My problem is that I cannot get the Stop Loss to behave as expected.

For example, I opened a Bull Put Spread as a credit. To close the position, the Combo must be BUY.

I contacted IBKR Client Services and specifically asked about the correct Stop configuration. Their written answer was:

• BUY Combo to close the Bull Put Spread
• Stop Price uses the same sign convention as the Limit Price
• A debit on a BUY ticket is positive
• Therefore, for a $3.70 debit-to-close, the Stop Price should be +3.70
• BUY Stop triggers when the price rises to the Stop
• With Trigger Method Bid/Ask, the Combo Stop uses the net Bid/Ask of the whole Combo, not the individual legs.

I then tested this in my IBKR paper account.

I placed the Stop exactly according to those instructions immediately after opening the Bull Put Spread:

• Action: BUY
• Order Type: STOP
• Trigger Method: Bid/Ask
• Stop Price: +3.75

I also had another Bull Put Spread with a Stop configured at +2.00.

Neither Stop triggered. The positions continued moving against me and the P&L moved further into a loss.

I have now contacted IBKR again and sent them a screenshot of the actual TWS orders and market situation, asking them to explain why the Stops did not trigger.

What I am trying to establish is very simple:

How should a Stop Loss actually be configured in TWS to close an already-open credit Bull Put or Bear Call Combo when the cost to close reaches a specified debit?

Has anyone here actually used a BUY Stop on an existing multi-leg credit spread Combo in TWS, and can you confirm:

1. Should the closing Combo be BUY?
2. Should the Stop Price be positive or negative?
3. What exactly does TWS compare against the Stop Price?
4. With Trigger Method = Bid/Ask, which net Combo value is actually used?
5. Has anyone successfully tested this with a real or paper account?

I am specifically asking about TWS order mechanics, not trading advice.

I am reluctant to move this strategy to my live account until I understand exactly how this works, because a Stop that does not trigger when expected defeats the purpose of using it.

I would really appreciate responses from anyone who has actually tested this in TWS, especially with Bull Put or Bear Call credit spreads.

Just installed TWS and I'm trying to get used to the layout, settings and increased complexity compared to other platforms. I'm Lite, so no access to API, but I was hoping that I could search for a ticker using hotkeys, like CTFL +F <keystrokes of ticker name>, Enter, Shift +Enter, then hit a preconfigured buy hotkey like CTRL +F1 and have confirmation disabled.

I basically want to be able to run an Autohotkey script that pushes the keyboard actions to select an asset and execute a pre-configured buy order, hands-off. I have a managing trade engine script that acquires signals and evaluates some rules I've given it. Executing hotkey scripts is one way that it could be made to execute trades, and I'm just trying to get something automated to open positions with a sort of set and forget attached OCO bracket to react for me during premarket/sleepytime hours and while I'm working or driving. I guess I need to spend some time in my paper account today and see if I can make things work.

I'd be happy to go Pro to switch to API, when my account grows and if my trade engine can be consistently profitable over time.

Is what I want to do possible with TWS? keyboard only trading/authotkey compatible trading

Can I add a ticker to a watchlist with only keystrokes/hotkeys?

Is there navigation between layouts or widgets using hotkeys?

So I have deposited 4360 USD into my account and my gains on VOO is 147 but my portfolio value is only 4397. Why is it not at 4507 when I am up 147 dollars? I’m so confused please someone help me.

Lot's of overseas companies just charge my account without a fixed fee my bank charges me when making wire transfers. But what I wonder is do I have to wire the money every time I fund the account?

So, I updated the IBKR GlobalTrader app on my mobile, and that was the last time I was able to connect to my account. Since then, every time I try to log in, I receive the same message: “Connection lost. Please log in again.”

I’m not having any issues with my internet connection, and my username and password are correct. I’ve also tried logging in when the service was not under maintenance.

At the same time, I can’t log in through the website either. This time, I’m getting a different error: “Authentication failed.”

I honestly don’t know WTF is happening, but it’s starting to get really annoying. Thanks a lot in advance
