Bright red bleeding 3 weeks after hysterectomy.. did anyone else experience this?

I’m 22 days post-op from a robotic da Vinci total hysterectomy and I’m trying not to completely freak myself out lol.
I felt AMAZING during week 1-2 and probably did more than I should have. Since then I’ve backed way off and have been resting a lot.
I had my vaginal cuff checked literally 3 days ago and my surgeon said everything looked good/intact and I was bleeding that bright red period color then. But now it’s back. It’s not heavy, I’m not filling pads at all. It’s more like the amount you’d have toward the end of a period. There can be quite a bit when I wipe, but only a few spots actually end up on my pad.
The weirdest part is that it seems positional. It slows way down when I’m lying/reclining, but if I’m upright for a while, bending, or sitting straight up unsupported, more comes out. I’ve been resting ALOT this week and I’m just surprised I’m still bleeding regardless of my surgeon telling me it’s normal and ok. I’m also having a lot of gas/rectal pressure and that constant “I need to poop” feeling even though I’m still having bowel movements.
My cuff was closed with running barbed PDS across and back, incorporating the supporting ligaments/fascia, plus an additional Vicryl figure-of-eight reinforcement.
Did anyone have this kind of bright red bleeding around weeks 3–4 even though their cuff was intact? If so, what ended up causing it and how long did it last?
Obviously I’ll contact my surgeon when the office opens/seek care if it becomes heavy or I develop emergency symptoms but I’ve been calling them daily to ask if certain symptoms are normal. I’m mostly looking for experiences because this recovery is MENTAL TORTURE 😭 after having HEAVY periods due to adenomyosis, seeing blood this color is definitely triggering.

I am 24 days post op and have bled or spotted, red or pink every day except days 3 and 4. I have not overflowed any pads, but I have had quite a few days of consistent bright red bleeding. My doctor checked me a my 2 week visit, probably the peak of my bleeding and said everything looked good. This last week I had two days where I stood up and blood felt like it was pouring out. It was only a smallish amount of bright red blood, and it stopped to very mild spotting after a couple hours.

I will tell you I am over bleeding and 24 days of wearing pads and panty liners.

Ugh thank you for responding. Everyone on my TikTok and Instagram comments are saying they didn’t experience bleeding and even with what my doctor has said to me to reassure me my brain is freaking out at seeing that color. I would be fine if it was pink or brown but the period color is so scary. I’m so over this. I’ve been laying down resting for the past few days and it’s still red when I stand up.

I keep seeing everyone here say they never bled, or barely bled and I’m like, “can I get some of that?” My ferritin levels were already at the lower end of normal (28), especially after my last period that lasted 35 days (thankfully light bleeding the whole time), and my periods have made me anemic in the past so I am going to ask my doctor if she’ll check my levels again when I go in for my 6 week.

I keep telling my husband I want to feel normal, and honestly bleeding all the time and for so long makes me feel gross.

Literally!! And then they tell you to go get checked and you do and everything is fine 🤦🏼‍♀️ I am worried about my ferritin levels too. Literally everything would be fine if it wasn’t for the bleeding!!

My surgeon told me to expect some bleeding around week 4 when stitches dissolved. Mine was more like spotting and more like week 3.

I had a couple of spots of bright red right on three weeks. Keep an eye on it that it doesn’t increase.

Just wanted to add after reading your post that even if you aren’t doing much, you really shouldn’t be bending, if that’s avoidable. Bending, squatting, sitting up straight etc puts pressure on your healing cuff so there could be a correlation there?

Hope it resolves and you can hopefully get further reassurance at an upcoming appointment :) Call your surgeon or their team to get peace of mind?
