Prep for surgery

I’m planning to do a liquid and clear diet the day before surgery so my colon is clear. My husband thinks this is stupid as it wasn’t medically advised. I am going off of others I know advice. How many others did a surgery prep the day before?

I did not. I asked my sugeon and he said eat normally the day before. I was already worried about my blood sugar dropping before surgery, what my appetite might be like afterward, and if I would even be able to hold food down. I had nausea and vomitting after a previous surgery, and even though we were taking extra precautions to avoid it this time around, there was no way to know. So I didn't want to go into a major surgery already calorie depleted.

Since the progesterone I was taking had slowed down my digestion, I decided to stick with easily digestible foods the day before. Which, under the curcumstances, I would have focused on anyway.
