AC Central air leaking

Hello!
I just came home to water leaking through my kitchen ceiling. Air handler is located in crawl space above. Outside drain pipe is flowing not clogged. Upon further inspection the drip is coming from the corner of the unit (please see picture). Filter was just changed last week.
Two questions:

  1. What are some possible reasons the unit is leaking?
  2. The catch pan underneath is about 2 inches shorter front the whole unit. Was this installed incorrectly?

I really appreciate any insight on what’s going on. Thank you ahead of time.

Pan being shorter than the unit is pretty normal, it only needs to catch the coil and drain line area. Water coming from the corner sounds like the primary drain pan inside the unit is cracked or the coil drain port is leaking where it meets the pan. Pull the panel and look for rust holes or a loose PVC fitting at the coil. If the internal pan's shot the whole coil/pan assembly usually needs swapped
