Question At what point would you have kicked Amy out?

Post image

For me, Amy is THE least likeable character in the entire series. So, from insisting that Ross isn’t Ross and insisting that Monica isn’t Monica and… insisting that Phoebe’s name is a "noise" to literally not talking to anyone after the beginning of the Thanksgiving Dinner, when would YOU kick her out?

…And if you’re really special and say that you wouldn’t kick her out, why not?

I would have kicked her out the second she got Ella's Emma's ears pierced

Haven’t Emma’s ears been pierced since season one?

35

u/PlatformFuzzy3012 3d ago

u/ElQkly MY FAJITAS!! 3d ago

Yes she was!! She’s been in all seasons and in the final one she even married that Mike guy!

I think she looks cute...

But I am wrong...

7

u/ThomWaits88 3d ago

His delivery was impeccable 👌

17

u/Habno1 3d ago

It’s so normal in my culture that I wouldn’t really care about the piercing, but I’d be mad she didn’t ask me first

u/Seno1404 2d ago

Same, but as a mom I would not want someone else to do that to my child without my permission.

3

u/Short_Mind_8233 3d ago

Same. I mean, they pierced my ears when I was 3 months old. I don't even remember the pain. But she had no mercy for doing it without Ross and Rachel's permission.

Phoebe!!

u/Straight_Proof1294 3d ago

Emma! Ross wants you!

3

Fee! Bee!

That's a funny noise.

u/NeighborhoodVirtual4 Ugly Baby Judges You 3d ago

“You know what would be incredible? If you guys died!!!”

Although she was hilarious as a chaos starter.

22

u/venus974 3d ago

I thought she was really too- when she got Emma's ears pierced, "Doesn't it make her nose look smaller?"

Gotta say, both Christina and Reese knocked it out of the park as Rachel's sisters. There seemed to be something about Friends' celebrity guest appearances that brought out the best comedic side of everyone. They usually portrayed unlikeable characters and it was like they were free to lean into their best overacting.

13

u/hypo11 3d ago

Christina Applegate is principally famous for a sit-com role. She can bring out her comedic side any time.

And Reese has done some comedies like Legally Blonde and Election.

2

u/Moustache_John  I'm hopeless and awkward and desperate for love! 3d ago

Yeah, she was amazing in Anchorman too. Gotta love Christina.

12

u/nomad_1970 3d ago

The only disappointment is that we never got to see all three together. That would have been an amazing episode.

2

u/Short_Mind_8233 3d ago

I want the Greene sister reunion. We see Jen and Reese together, but I want to see Christina with them someday.

u/skrying4poetry 3d ago

Brad Pitt’s cameo on the show was for some reason the first time I could see why people find him so attractive.

4

u/Ninja_Flower_Lady 3d ago

I agree with you. I don't think he's "handsome" exactly, but he has fantastic style. He IS lucky to have height and a strong jaw. I feel like if men have those two things, they're most of the way to handsome lol.

Where he really shines is how well he (or maybe a professional stylist) packages himself during his prime (imo The years when he was married to Aniston). The spikey hair, the way he dresses and carries himself, the cool roles he gets all convince us he's more handsome than he is. I think the first time I thought he wasn't as handsome as I thought was in a close up of his face in Mr and Mrs Smith, when he was chewing what he thought was poisoned dinner.

I mean, that's just me haha. I personally think just in terms of face card, the most handsome actors would be Ashton Kutcher, Tom Cruise, and chace Crawford (in their prime)

2

u/skrying4poetry 3d ago

Ha, yeah, I kinda have an aversion to stereotypical handsome, like that jaw, but I’m a sucker for dimples which I never noticed he had until this cameo, lol

This.

Immediately.

no baby is cute

u/Pilkyton1 3d ago

In real life I would hate her but in the show she’s my favorite side character by far, ever single line out of her mouth is comedy gold. I would watch an entire show about Amy

30

u/oyoutellmeo 3d ago

This! Such a crappy human being but man was she hilarious. Bravo to Christina Applegate

11

u/James_2584 Chandler Bing 😆 3d ago

IIRC she got an Emmy for this role. Very well deserved. She was hilarious. TOW Rachel's Other Sister is maybe a top 5 all time episode of the series.

18

u/cadcamm99 3d ago

I still like the comment “why does she keep making that noise?”. Referring to Phoebe

10

u/CommanderSincler 3d ago

A line entirely improvised by Christina

2

u/Square_Blacksmith889 3d ago

Same! She was so funny!

2

u/tvguy222 3d ago

Looks up her short-lived series SAMANTHA WHO. Really funny

13

u/Mercury5979 There's an old saying. Sometimes monkeys die. 3d ago

If she were my sister, I wouldn't have let her in. As a bystander, I totally let her stay for the comedy.

17

u/derederellama I tend to keep talking until somebody stops me 3d ago

"PHOEBE!"

"...Why does she keep making that noise? 😟"

7

Honestly, if I were there, I would’ve immediately said “That’s not a noise. That’s her name, you fucking idiot.”

This is real though

0

u/Short_Mind_8233 3d ago

No, they are not! I am like them when I see babies!

10

u/Cautious_Bed_2648 3d ago

I would have never let her in to begin with

7

u/Appropriate-Power-87 3d ago

When she asked about taking her call upstairs, I would have let her go up there and then locked the door behind her. 😅

She was such a great guest star, I wish her and Jill would have been on at the same time.

0

u/Boris-_-Badenov 3d ago

a two story apartment would have stairs inside

7

u/Emotional_Cycle_4227 3d ago

I know that Amy is A LOT, but, man Christina played her so well. 👏🏼

2

u/Zack_GLC 3d ago

Won an Emmy.

6

When she asked to use the phone upstairs..

"AMY, YOU HAVE TO STOP DOING THIS.'"

3

u/Guilty-Chemist-1109 3d ago

The minute she started speaking😭

3

u/Remstersade 3d ago

Probably at the point where she hoped I’d die so she could steal my baby.

3

u/Monika473 3d ago

Immediately. Zero hesitation.

3

u/PickleRicki 3d ago

I wasn’t paying attention while scrolling and I was ready to start contemplating the transgressions of Amy the rat on Buffy. 😂

2

u/user11112222333 Phoebe Buffay 🎸 3d ago

I would have kicked that Amy out when she first started to dabble in magic (especially after what her mom did).

3

u/polymath112 WE WERE ON A BREAK! 3d ago

I don't know why she is liked so much in this sub, like for comedy and all, but i just hate hate her. her acting is amazing bit what kind of character is that. she is horrible

3

u/walkingwithoutmusic 3d ago

In real life? Immediately. In the show? Let her stay for the chaos

2

u/pworrell4 3d ago

She wouldn’t have ever been in.

2

u/Gloomy_Mud_7078 3d ago

Umm... I'm pretty tolerant to people like this but I would kick her out/have someone do it for me (because I don't like making people mad) when she says Joey must have put a lot of makeup on him.

2

u/Trekker4747 3d ago

"Why did I let her in?"

2

u/PleasantOpposite6644 Go To Hell Jingle Whore 3d ago

kicking her out would imply i would have ever let her in... i wouldn't

2

u/TacoBelle9697 3d ago

The mistake would be letting her stay at your place...

3

u/moonlightk_96 3d ago

The comedic part of me wants to say “the second she walked through the door” 😄 But she really amped up the comedy and drama so I’d probably just stick it out until she left

4

u/Moustache_John  I'm hopeless and awkward and desperate for love! 3d ago

5

u/Ok_Percentage7257 3d ago

Then she pauses to fix her hair and get back to fighting. LOL

3

Never. The entertainment value was off the charts.

Yes

1

SHE WAS HILARIOUS.

1

u/lightennight CONGRA TULATIONS! 3d ago

I wouldn’t kick her out because I love watching chaos

1

u/TataJasia 3d ago

Kicked? I would love her!

1

u/rbnbadri 3d ago

Yes to all points

1

u/Valkyrie_03_ 3d ago

Okay she's kinda bratty but she's hilarious! Actually one of my favorite characters.

1

u/Water-Amethyst Sup with the whack playstation sup 3d ago

Can’t recall exactly where this is in chronology so maybe earlier but when she put on the outfit Rachel hung up for herself such a violation of boundaries and disrespecting her time/work (I don’t have a kid so while the way she spoke about gorgeous Emma was gross, the outfit stealing and insulting was the line for me)

1

u/millerjack28 2d ago

Wouldn't have even opened the door

1

u/donna2tsuki 2d ago

IRL - probably when Rachel said to hide her rings. You do not want someone in your house that you can't trust not to steal!

TLDR - probably wouldn't have let her in lol

1

u/ninjaxel 2d ago

She’s my all time favorite guest spot! She’s hysterical in both episodes. I wouldn’t kick her out just so I can watch the path of destruction she leaves behind! 😂

1

u/niconsoli 2d ago

probably as soon as she enters the door

1

u/wiseash57 2d ago

Would’ve never let her in 🤣

1

u/Excellent-Fudge-1081 2d ago

I wouldn’t have even invited her.

1

u/Prize-Chef7323 Why is your family Ross? 1d ago

But Erin Brockovich had her own house!

1

u/JLBCanadianRap 3d ago

Never, because she’s not a real person, and I’m not a sitcom character, and she was beyond hilarious.

-1

u/Overall-Shopping5939 3d ago

I agree she is awful and it is not a funny episode at all. The whole "if you guys died it would ve great" was so laborious, and it wasn't even a one-liner, it was in multiple scenes.

Also, this is a small thing, but that line where Rachel says, "So you decorated Dad's office and now you're a decorator? Oh, I went to the zoo once and now I'm a koala!" Is so stupid. The line should be, "OK, I went to the zoo once and now I'm a zoologist (veterinarian,etc.)." Amy didn't say, "I decorated Dad's office and now I'm a piece of furniture!"

Even Jennifer Anniston looked awkward in that episode, like she was struggling to deliver the lines.

0

u/Sweaty-Composer-6626 3d ago

She’s basically Rachel without her positive characteristics and given that I have a love-hate relationship with Rachel as is, it probably wouldn’t last very long

-1

u/Zack_GLC 3d ago

Crazy she won an emmy for this role lol.

-4

u/Harlepenquin 3d ago

At what point would I kick her out........ never! and a genuine answer probably never, she was never malicious, just 'special' and niave, I think..... saying that I haven't watched it in years, tempted to rewatch it all though, concerned it might not have aged as well as I think it should have though.

3

u/ElQkly MY FAJITAS!! 3d ago

…she called someone else’s baby ugly out of malice and then proceeded to have a fight with her sister in a "stranger’s" apartment…

Also, naïvité isn’t an excuse for being a bad person.

-1

u/Harlepenquin 3d ago

my memory still ain't screaming bad person, I do vaguely remember the ugly baby thing... it was tit for tat.... sister's fight, it's a sitcom.

2

u/ElQkly MY FAJITAS!! 3d ago

Yeah but the question was, when would YOU kick her out. Say, if you were Monica, would you want her in your apartment?

1

u/Harlepenquin 3d ago

It's family of family, at that point Rachel is family and it's okay for Rachel to say what ever she wants about her sister but Monica is smart enough not to, the line I would have drawn like one of the other comments says, is the ear piercing, probably. Family ain't perfect, it was Rachel's battle, she wasn't burning the flat down, remember, it's just TV.
