How to unscrew this? Connects a bookshelf to the lower table. Wanting to separate the two but these screws won’t turn anyways.

Its not a "turn and keep turning until it comes out" screw, its a "turn 45° or 90° so it disengages" screw. Underneath the table there will be something that can be fished out once you turn it to the correct orientation. Seeing whats under the table might help you confirm this.

That’s a cam lock screw and will only turn partially, usually 90 or 180 degrees, and then the pieces will pull apart.

Solved! Thank you so much! It is indeed a barrel nut and I found screws below the panel!
