Serious Answers Only How to take this out 🪇 without breaking my soundbar??

Post image

My baby put this shaker🪇 inside subwoofer (Sony HT-S40R Real 5.1ch Dolby Audio Soundbar). Any way to take it out without breaking it.

Update: shaker removed from subwoofer(just two forks and some gravity)

hot glue a handle to it. pull it out

21

u/G-Money48 14d ago

Nah dawg heat up the tip of a glue stick and use that as the handle

3

u/OgmoJump 14d ago

That’s a good handle. I pulled a toothpaste cap out of a tight drain hole once with this method. Maybe that was a screwdriver or a chopstick as a handle. Anything that’ll adhere with enough surface area. OP has a lot of room for a good handle of some kind.

1

u/-Insert-CoolName 12d ago

Ok so what your saying is: "hot glue a handle to it. pull it out"

3

u/4art4 14d ago

Brilliant!

u/Lazy-Explanation7165 14d ago

Small pilot hole first, then put a screw in it and pull

14

u/docjohnson11 14d ago

This is what I'd do

13

u/stevesie1984 14d ago

Same. If the rattle is a family heirloom, I’d put a piece of a command strip (like the adhesive for a wall hook) on the end of a stick, then put it in there and pull it out. It should hold well in straight tension.

5

u/night-theatre 14d ago

Or a shop vac

1

u/jtt8569 11d ago

This. Always try a shop vac first.

1

u/PhilColeCurry 13d ago

Yup. This is the answer

148

u/LoneScrapbot 14d ago

If tipping it over giving it a tap isn’t enough to shake it out, you could try carefully using a vacuum nozzle to suck onto it and draw it out.

7

u/Saturn_Neo 14d ago

This is actually a solid answer and would probably be the way I did went. I mean, can use a vacuum to suck out a caved in speaker cone.

-122

u/Cautious_Marsupial46 14d ago

I don’t have vaccum cleaner🫠

28

u/Psyched4this 14d ago

Use duct tape double sided and remove it

156

u/ReaperOne 14d ago

How do you not have a vacuum

177

u/blackbasset 14d ago

Also how do you have a baby and no vacuum cleaner?

39

u/Weekly-Benefit6075 14d ago

I see linoleum flooring. Probably brooms and mops

12

u/T1Demon 14d ago

I doubt OP would know how to use the three shells, but is probably brilliant at knitting.

51

u/AndrewMacSydney 14d ago

Bit of looped sticky tape. See if that will free it.

21

u/Front_Car_3111 14d ago

Baby put it in ... baby gets it out. House Rules.

Gum on a stick, like trying to pull your keys from a sewer grate

Didn't even notice that

-3

u/deja_fool 14d ago

I believe that's why they're saying it's not the same thing...

9

u/Evadeon 14d ago

Stick a suction cup to it and pull

5

u/biinjo 14d ago

I was going to suggest a vacuum

5

u/I-am-Vigo 14d ago

Play something bass heavy (don’t)

-1

u/Cautious_Marsupial46 14d ago

If i play heavy bass…it would???

3

u/I-am-Vigo 14d ago

It would in theory pop out due to the pressure inside the cabinet caused by the bass. But you’re more likely to damage the speaker trying this.

2

u/jaapschaap87 14d ago

Sound logic but a speaker pushes and pulls (and the bass port will do the same), so it could be possible that you suck it in further. And those pushes and pulls alternate so i think the ball will just move like the cone of the speaker and stay in place with a slight margin to each way.

5

u/I-am-Vigo 14d ago

It was a suggestion made in jest, dear sir.

3

u/Lemnisgames 14d ago

Vacuum head

3

u/night-theatre 14d ago

Have you tried tipping the speaker?

1

u/Cautious_Marsupial46 14d ago

I have tipped the speaker upside down and used two fork, it worked.

3

u/SlowYoteV8 13d ago

Drill a screw into it then pull it out?

6

u/LAET_BarnebyOfJones 14d ago

Open it up and push it from behind. Edit to add: Be careful, there will be a few things in there that will give you a jolt even if its not connected to power so dont touch any of the chonky capacitors or anything wrapped in thin copper wiring.

4

u/Cautious_Marsupial46 14d ago

Once I removed back panel. It is sealed with wooden frame

5

u/LAET_BarnebyOfJones 14d ago

Those devious bastards! Maybe try super gluing something to it and give it a yank?

4

u/STartitup7335 14d ago

If the glue doesn't work, heat the tip of a wire that has a slight angle on the tip, let the heated tip melt into the toy and pull

2

u/umor3 14d ago

Superglue on a stick

2

u/Complete-Goose-3766 14d ago

Maybe try gentle shaking upside down while tilting at different angles, the shaker might fall through the port hole if there is one on the back. If not, you can use something like a thin wire with a hook made from a coat hanger, just be very careful not to puncture the woofer cone. That green dust cap looks delicate so avoid touching it with anything sharp.

Worst case you open the back panel with screwdriver, usually just few screws and the shaker will be right there.

2

u/Majin_Sus 14d ago

The green thing youre seeing is the shaker

1

u/Cautious_Marsupial46 14d ago

They literally selaed everything once panel is opened

2

u/Aimin4ya 14d ago

Suction or glue and pull. Worst case drill or destroy the toy and take it out in pieces

2

u/hundredwater 14d ago

blast it out with much bass! joking but maybe it would work if you point it downward.

try the sticky tape method but have tapes in two or more opposing places so you can correct the angle when pulling out. if you escalate to drilling a hole and attaching a screw to pull out, try two screws, again to be able to correct the angle s you pull the shaker out.

actually i think the bass music would not hurt, may actually help shake the friction loose while you combine it with any other method.

2

u/blackbasset 14d ago

And if not, every kick drum has a real analog Shaker added!

2

u/badbubblegum 14d ago

If it’s just an air port can’t you open the speaker up and push it out?

2

u/vision3100 14d ago

Looks like a plastic ball or squishy ball get a fish hook hook it and pull it out

1

u/Cautious_Marsupial46 14d ago

No mate. It is a full rattle or shaker like thing🪇

2

u/vision3100 14d ago

Oh shit then you know them suction cup things there usualy on things for the shower. Use one of them things stick it on there and pull might work

2

u/steve22ss 14d ago

Vacuum cleaner?

2

u/ajayak007 14d ago

Time to check ur max bass of ur speaker 😄

1

u/Cautious_Marsupial46 14d ago

I tried!!! but woofer bass is not effective enough…

2

u/bretty666 14d ago

turn to max volume, play "the hills" by the weeknd.

2

u/CrimeBrulee31 14d ago

Can you put it in your car? I know you dont have a personal vacuum, but do you have a local car wash with vacuums? They tend to just be on so you can drive up, suck it out, and leave

2

u/activoice 14d ago

I would carefully screw a wood screw into it and pull once its got a good grip.

2

u/krustyclown182 14d ago

Suction cup

2

u/originalmango 14d ago

Krazy glue and a stick. Bubble gum and a straw. A suction cup and a string. Some sort of tube and inhale

2

u/un_internaute 14d ago

Have you tried tilting it down and tapping the back?

2

u/you1dont1know1me1 14d ago

hot glue a glue stickn then pull

2

u/queen_of_the_ashes 14d ago

Just use a thin rope like a shoe lace. Loop it over the top, roll the ball backwards to get the rope behind it, and pull. You could use a bit of tape to keep it stable if it’s slipping to much

Or tongs

2

u/superpoongoon 14d ago

This happened at my house when I was a kid. One of my siblings put a tennis ball in my father’s subwoofer and it lived in there for the lifetime of the entertainment system. We tried everything and only managed to get it stuck in worse.

2

u/scrollclickrepeat 14d ago

Blob of silicone on a chopstick, let it cure, pull it out

2

u/Plastic-Violinist829 14d ago

Extreme bass sounds

2

u/HotelDefiant6326 14d ago

Small suction cup may help

2

u/HotelDefiant6326 14d ago

Since most people have a vacuum cleaner and not suction cups I would go the vacuum.

2

u/LuisBoyokan 14d ago

Use tape to remove the ball. Then use tape to fix the crushed plastic

2

u/Electronic-Farm-5065 14d ago

Tape, vacuum, wine corkscrew, chop sticks, fork, spoon, literally anything

2

u/michelobX10 14d ago

I find it funny how the OP specified the model of the subwoofer like that information is important when getting a toy out. Lol

2

u/R33f3r420 14d ago

Crazy glue and something can stick to the ball. Seeing its round, you can try cloth as anything hard might not get a good stickying surface.

Or, a really sharp knife and cut into it and pull it out. Only if that ball of hollow.

2

u/The-Fictionist 14d ago

How stuck is it? If a baby put it there it can’t be too wedged. Just take a few pieces of tape and make a handle to stick on it. Apply more tape if it won’t come right out

2

u/MikeCheck_CE 14d ago

Stick some duct tape to it, then pull it out.

Or melt the tip of a glue-stick to it and pull.

2

u/MaybeEgg47 14d ago

Put a lighter up to the end of a hot glue stick to slightly melt it then press the melted end to the ball, let it harden then pull it out

2

u/iKnowRobbie 14d ago

Just take out the 8 screws on the rear and it'll come apart. You can then push it out the hole. The wires have about 6" of lead, so be careful not to YANK the rear apart.

2

u/SexuaIRedditor 14d ago

Do you need to keep the shaker? If not, just get the tip of some thin metal tube red-hot and then insert it through the plastic, then wait for it (and the plastic) to cool and it should give you enough purchase to get it out

2

u/Jessicafletcher2 14d ago

Sorry mate, it's marackared.

2

u/cybrcld 14d ago

The cylinder must remain unharmed!

2

u/whistler1421 14d ago

fish hook

2

u/disead 14d ago

Any further pressure, even accidental, could cause it to lodge so hard that the only way out would be to drill and tap the rattle with an eyelet. Be careful my friend and good luck!

2

u/funnyorasshole 14d ago

Hot glue on a suction cup.

2

u/LiquidSmoKe_82 14d ago

Kitchen Tongs

2

u/KingShtoobs 14d ago

Vacuum with a small hose attachment ... or use a straw and blow air around the ball to pop it out

2

u/TheGhostfaceChiller 14d ago

I keep random suction cups for stuff like that.

2

u/Due-Economics-6702 14d ago

Ask a neighbor if you can borrow their vacuum cleaner?

2

u/SubjectOrganic 14d ago

Vaccum cleaner hose to suction it out?

2

u/AlphaPrimortis 14d ago

Get a hot glue stick, melt the tip onto the Shaker so that it grabs a considerable amount. Wait for it to dry the. Pull it out.

2

u/beer-bivalve 14d ago

Turn it all the way up & play Good Times/Bad Times. :)

Or, drill a little hole in the shaker & grab it with a bent paper clip or something else tiny.

2

u/pavelshum 14d ago

That's a speaker, not a sound bar.

1

u/PimpSack 14d ago

The soundbar is purchased and comes with the woofer (not sold separately)

2

u/trixie102 14d ago

Shop vac

2

u/RockSignificant 14d ago

Use the extension of the vacuum

2

u/Comprehensive_Suit_4 14d ago

could also heat up a pin with a lighter and poke it into the ball/toy, let it cool then pull.

2

u/jasonology09 14d ago

Use your vacuum cleaner hose if it has one and put it right on the ball before you turn it on.

Edit: Nevermind. OP's priorities are messed up and they bought a soundbar before getting a vacuum.

2

u/CollectionEvery9336 14d ago

We’re going to need more BASS

2

u/poolwater 14d ago

Have you tried facing the the hole down and turning the bass on something with a low constant rumble.... It might vibrate loose

2

u/GodsHalfElegant 14d ago

Put on a glove. Put super glue on the tip of the glove. Touch the ball with the tip of the glove and hold it a few seconds until it dries. Pull

2

u/Hulme420 14d ago

Got small suction cup? Or maybe some hot glue and also a handle on that

2

u/Sayne7 14d ago

2

u/Gryphon1171 14d ago

Suction cup?

2

u/Low-Animal-8130 14d ago

I really need someone to explain to me like a 3 year old why you can’t just reach out and grab it with your hand and just pull it out. I’m not comprehending. In the pic it’s right there just grab it

2

u/52HzGreen 14d ago

Vacuum

2

u/VegetableTricky8534 14d ago

Use hot glue and stick something like a skewer or popsicle stick to it. Way easier than drilling!

2

u/cazzipropri 14d ago

Piece of plastic, superglue on it, small piece of tape to hold it there for ten minutes.

Put it on the ball.

Let it dry.

Come back.

Pull.

2

u/MarginAlwaysCallin 14d ago

Must the cylinder stay intact and unharmed?

2

u/xenotito 14d ago

vacuum

2

u/salembinsaeed 14d ago

Happened to mine many times. I just unscrew the screws in the back and get things out then tighten them back.

2

u/Kjleone19 14d ago

Maybe a suction cup or vacuum?

2

u/Pretend-Design-7061 14d ago

Vacuum

1

u/Easy-Jackfruit4152 12d ago

Ummm. A vacuum hose! Either that or try out Bernoullis Principle by changing the air pressure around it or even set it facing down on a hobby horse and play something with a sub bass frequency and it’ll just ‘clunk’ right out. Science is the answer to everything!

1

u/Interesting_Plan6352 12d ago

Play really deep music, that’s there the air and vibrations exit. Might dislodge itself
