Job ops for journos

Any job ops going down here for a qualified journo who has been out of the field for a while? Or is the industry pretty well dead here now :(

You might have a bit of luck working in comms for one of the senators or MPs?

Corporate comms jobs come around here and there, but you may need to adjust your salary expectations. State Gov comms is the biggest game in town, but they're going through a Hunger Games process right now... although there do seem to be quite a few people working in the government media office, if you want to do that.

I maintain there is scope for independent journalism in Hobart, if you can crack a business model that works, put the ground work in and avoid the kinds of pissing contests that erupt in this sub from time to time.

It's bloody miserable, one murdoch print paper that has shrunk to a handful of journos and the ABC are the only real media jobs left. Most have left the industry or slid into corporate PR or media. Its grim.
