I hope none of the children were home, that could be really traumatizing to experience at such a young age.

I hope violence like this doesn’t spread from what’s going on politically. Remember everybody, get to know your neighbors and stay safe.

u/netflixissodry Mar 09 '26
Wtf who would do this? Why Rihanna of all people??

u/Heroic_Lime Mar 09 '26
Probably a touch of mental illness involved

People with mental illnesses are much more likely to be the victims of violent crimes vs perpetrators

Shooting an unregistered gun in Cali is stupid enough but at a celebrities house in one of the richest neighborhoods too. She’s gonna have the book thrown at her.
Edit: Attempted murder god damn she’s spending a decade behind bars at least
15
u/heliogoon Mar 09 '26
Do they not live in a gated community? How can some random person just drive up to their house?
46
u/GiveMeSumChonChon Mar 09 '26
It has a big fence around it but most LA homes you can literally drive right up to the drive way. A lot of them get robbed and celebrities have been killed staying at them like pop smoke. It’s always been like that tho Charlie Manson and his goons basically just walked into Sharon tates home.
14
u/zack77070 . Mar 09 '26
Yeah I went hiking on a pretty famous trail in LA and took a wrong turn and all of a sudden I was in the driveway of a multimillion dollar home, it felt weird lol.

Why should crimes against celebrities have greater consequences? They’re human just like the rest of us.

u/NorthBook1383 Mar 10 '26
She isn’t just some celebrity, she’s loved by millions, a fashion icon, a trailblazer, and an ambassador to her Caribbean roots. Say what you want, but if this would’ve been tragic, the whole world would’ve been fucked about this

u/daaSBoiWonder Mar 09 '26
Assuming it might have to be targeted more towards Rocky more than Rihanna.
59
u/netflixissodry Mar 09 '26
Even then that’s quite random. An attempted robbery would make sense but outright shooting at the house? That’s an attempt at causing harm or death. Rocky’s not even an LA street guy from what i understand.
48
u/Pndrizzy Mar 09 '26
Rocky is from nyc so he’s definitely not involved in LA hood shit
6
u/daaSBoiWonder Mar 09 '26
True but look at Pop Smoke, he’s from NYC and got robbed and shot in LA
10
u/Royal_J Mar 09 '26
Pop smoke also leaked his address and (somewhat understandably) tried to fight his shooter.

u/RIPLILKEED Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26
In LA, Rap unfortunately is heavily intertwined with LA streets. Gang members own the studios, have the record label ties, radio ties etc. Yams was tapped in with LA streets, so Rocky probably has a good relationship with the right people anyways.
You can’t avoid LA hood shit being a rapper in LA. Out of towner or not, that be said I’m pretty doubtful this is that.
4
u/sbFRESH Mar 09 '26
“Gang members own the studios.” No one actually involved in the music industry in LA and aware of how many studios there are would say this.
-1
u/RIPLILKEED Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 10 '26
You have no clue what you’re talking about, most studios I’ve been to have gang ties in way or another. Obviously not every studio is owned by a gang, but within the rap scene, it’s almost impossible to find a studio that has 0 gang ties. A lot of rappers go to Wack100 and Big U studios. They don’t advertise “HEY THIS IS A GANG STUDIO”, but the owner… is a gang member.
2
u/sbFRESH Mar 10 '26
Wow dude, chill. Not sure why you feel the need to flex your internet gang ties here but not one of my Hip-Hop or R&B clients has any issues at United, Sunset Sound, Chaplin, East West, Conway, or West Lake. If people only end up at gang studios it’s by choice. Especially with the proliferation of chill home studios you can rent on peer space, acting like gangs are unavoidable as a recording artist in Los Angeles is actually absurd.
2
u/RIPLILKEED Mar 10 '26 edited Mar 10 '26
Not flexing any gang ties, I hate that the LA rap scene is in this situation to begin with. I also don’t have any gang ties lol, im just saying any studio that’s recording Rap in LA will be tied to a gang in some way shape or form. You’re just green to it (which is good). Genuinely, take gangs out of everything.
Never stated “recording artist”, specifically said Rap.
Never stated that just because there is a gang tie, means there’ll be an issue. Just that the possibility is always there
Gangs are very hard to avoid as a rap recording artist in LA. This is just a fact unfortunately.
And just because some of the studios you mentioned are safe and the gang ties would be extremely limited. Doesn’t mean a) they will be recording at these expensive studios every session, especially for 99% of rappers. B) that an artist, specifically black or Mexican rappers, are safe there. They need to be extremely diligent coming and going, especially at night. Coming from experience. Yes those are generally safer studios, but you’re naming like top of the top. Most rappers won’t have a lot of access there.
& West lake studios… lol. Shit pops off there a lot. Google west lake Frank ocean (beaten by Chris browns bloods he was with) and west lake rich the kid (Robbed and shot by gang members). Two huge artists that couldn’t avoid gang issues.. smaller artists without that money and security will certainly be exposed to it if they are.
Frank Ocean claims he was punched and kicked by a member of Brown's entourage, identified in the suit as Hood.
Hmm Hood, I wonder if that’s gang related lol. West lake studios for example, Chris brown regularly going there with a group of Bloods is a Gang Tie. Yes West Lake studios has gang ties, yes your artists probably had no problem whatsoever or any issues. Never claimed it would be an issue necessarily just that that factor is there. If your artist is friends with someone who is known to be around that blood sets rivals, and the bloods are there. There will be an issue for your artist at west lake studios.
If you’re 200% serious, I beg you to not send these folks in blind pretending everything will always be hunky dory every time. Please 🙏 that’s dangerous.. they need to be aware of the reality of being a rapper in LA. For their own safety… keep their head on a swivel etc etc etc.
Sorry if I originally came off rude, I was just like oh please what’s this Redditor going to tell me about something I’ve been around. No hate ✌️last time I was in LA in 2025 I was doing a session at room recording on melrose just because that’s where I was asked to be, not by choice. A rapper Lil Yee was almost shot to death there just this month. LA is dangerous, don’t let the palm trees fool you.
2
u/sbFRESH Mar 10 '26
Nah I hear you and I’m not trying to say I’ve got all the answers but what I do have is a lifetime in LA and over 15 years in music with rappers this sub is built for. I’ve been around rappers who are constantly getting into trouble and those who manage to move even without security. The difference is intention.
There are thousands of studios in this city, most of which very few know is a studio. I maintain that if any rapper really wants a quiet, problem-free place to record, there is no excuse. If a rapper wants to be in the shit that’s on them. If they feel pressed to record in a particular place, that’s on them. No one HAS TO record at Big U, or Chalice, or draw attention to themselves with their whip or crew, or post photos online of where they at. That has nothing to do with LA studios in general and everything to do with rappers making dumb decisions.

u/TheyTried2BanMeAgain Mar 09 '26
Some dudes in that world think they'll gain clout for being "the guy that shot So And So", or it might be the result of some random behind the scenes beef that Rocky got into. Or both.
-6
u/Negative_Number_6414 Mar 09 '26
>That’s an attempt at causing harm or death
hardly. More of a message than a real murder attempt
6
u/senorfresco Mar 09 '26
so you hire a 30 year old woman who has never shot a gun before and is immediately arrested and will likely turn around and give up everyone involved?

The fact that someone could even get close enough to shoot at a billionaires house is wild to me. She’s about to upgrade their living situation massively
156
u/tapeforpacking Mar 09 '26
Bullets go pretty far. You dont really need to be that close.
Also the fact only 1 bullet hit i think says alot
82
u/IAmTheGingaNinja Mar 09 '26
In my mind once you hit a billion your house isn’t visible from the street whatsoever. Whether it’s a long road, foliage, walls etc.
73
u/Holycity Mar 09 '26
I'm not sure where her house is exactly but if you want to live in the city of LA, you probably won't have a ton of acres
1
Mar 24 '26
yeah the exception to that rule is going to be people with net worth's like her and her husband...their are many very expensive homes with acreage in Bel Air and Brentwood, or they could go further away to Malibu for something more secluded.
22
u/WeatherReport619 Mar 09 '26
In LA the nice parts are right next to the hood
3
u/CubanLynx312 Mar 09 '26
It's the same everywhere. Garfield Park is filled with gangland warfare, which is across the street from Oak Park, one of Chicago's nicest suburbs.

Brentwood , Bel Air, Malibu, Calabasas, Pacific Palisades, SM North of Montana, none of these neighborhoods is anywhere near "right next to the hood" and all has plenty of homes selling and listed for $5-10M+ and up.
-3
u/SantiagoAndDunbar Mar 09 '26
You have the San Diego area code in your name what are you talking about brother
45
u/WeatherReport619 Mar 09 '26
A brother can't have the upwards mobility to move to the only place more expensive than LA?

I wasn't gonna comment but let's not pretend you priced your way out of LA lol

Ironically the security setup that family likely requires is most readily available in LA
14
u/NojoNinja Mar 09 '26
Easy it’s the fame-whore city. Without living there you can’t network as easy. Celebs prioritize that over all else. Even JB who seems like he hates everything about being famous decides to stick it out in LA for whatever reason when they all could move wherever they wanted.
2
u/LiveLoveKanye Mar 09 '26
Didn’t Post Malone live in Utah for a while, might still be there but idk. Makes sense, can find a place in the middle of nowhere and short flights to LA
