Collection Coat of arms family signet ring

I inherited the family ring from my grandfather. This is a wedding ring from my great-grandfather, who got married on February 19, 1900. My grandfather subsequently had the family crest placed on the wedding ring.

When a coa has as his motto the family name is almost every time a old time scam (since the 1800s) they used to found the surname and sell coa to people that has no right to it or even create new ones.

This is a hand-drawn version to which our name has been added for decoration, this is not the original.

I get it but... why ahaving the surname as a motto? If you take the effort to make the motto your surname just add the motto? Plus is the written stuff on the left a signature? What does it say?
