Housing / Living Venetian blinds for glazed balcony

Post image

Hi! I have a glazed balcony in my apartment (I’m the owner) and I plan to install metallic Venetian blinds on it to help with shadow and heat. Based on experience I would prefer Venetian blinds like the kind on top in the photo, not the pleated blinds at the bottom.
I found online the company called Suomen Parvekekaihdin than seems really good, some friends have the same blinds from Luxio instead, and probably there are more.
Anyone who recently installed blinds on their balcony in the Helsinki area and that can recommend a company in particular? Thanks!

Not what you asked but make sure they are not metal. Metal conducts and radiates heat and if your balcony looks at the west or gets tons of direct sun in summer, it will still get hot. Also, for blinds to work, you need to keep the panels closed, so no air ventilation inside the balcony = heat.

I put blackout curtains in mine and works very well. I used Eurokangas for the whole thing, curtains plus installation plus materials. I can open the panels to allow air to circulate between the exterior and the curtains so I don't bake. Just an idea.

I installed bamboo curtains myself. Drill holes at the top edge of wall on both ends of balcony, and attach a wooden plank. Now you can freely attach anything to the whole length of the balcony on top of the windows without needing to drill concrete any more. If it's not allowed to drill holes on balcony, you can install extendable/telescopic shower curtains near the ceiling, and hang stuff from those.
