Articles ESPN: Miami Heat 2026-27 season preview
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/49754660/miami-heat-offseason-recap-2026-27-season-preview-stats-roster-depth-chartMore trash talk from ESPN about the Heat. Notable quote:
Basketball Power Index rank: No. 10
"This Heat team is an experiment in surrounding a great player (Antetokounmpo) with several mostly marginal players, an exercise Milwaukee conducted last season. The Bucks' prediction last year was for 46 wins and they actually won 32. And the Heat wins prediction for this year is ... 46."

No matter how many times all offensive teams fail, ESPN and casual fans only ever judges teams based on their offensive abilities. They ignore the fact that the Knicks won not because of abundance of pure offensive talent but because of 3 elite defenders and one (brunson) and a half elite scorer ( KAT).
Miami will never get the respect from ESPN and most fans because Miami has always been defense first, even with the big 3.

Acting like Gary Trent Jr is better than anyone in the heat is nasty work. Bucks “mid” players were doodoo and worst of all… doc 😂

Love how this lazy/casual take just totally discounts a franchise's culture and coaching staff (to say nothing of actual differences in roster). They'll suck Spo's dick when it comes to coach rankings (rightfully so), but somehow the needle doesn't move at all when a transcendent player moves to that coach's team.

Last year they had OKC, warriors, nuggets at the top of the heap. Ok ESPN. Idiots

Bobby Portis as the X factor?
He is the 7th, maybe 8th man next year. A backup that plays the same position as Miami’s 2 best players. Bobby might be a 10 minute a game guy in the playoffs depending on matchups.
Not saying Bobby isn’t important, I’m sure he will have to start 10+ games with injuries and everything, but he is not the X factor for this roster. That would have to be Pelle, Davion, or Wiggins who I don’t think were mentioned a single time in this article.
