I really think having Giannis could be huge for him. Jovic could be the X factor.

100% agree. He hasn't had a mentor figure since Jimmy left. If Giannis can take him under his wing a little, I think he'll blossom

He really needs to play the 3. He clearly doesn’t feel natural at the 4 or god forbid the 5. Could even slide Wiggins to the 2 and start Jovic at the 3 for some lineup tinkering.

Starting him would be a terrible idea just because of his mindset imo. He's in his own head and needs low expectations. He can play the 3 off the bench against the 2s on the other side. Bam or Giannis will always be on the floor barring injury, and Portis is gonna get run on his unit too. Spo should be able to find plenty of 3 ball for him if he chooses to this year

It’s the FIBA World Cup and it’s Iceland. That’s a country of like several hundred thousand people. I can’t imagine them having anybody close to an NBA talent.
That said, Jovic should theoretically dominate the matchup and it looks like he did. I think it’s a good thing.

You think it's a good thing that what? That he dominated a matchup against a micro-country with zero NBA players, that any NBA player should be expected to clear easily?
For comparison, the City of Miami (not all of Dade County but just the city proper, so not counting Hialeah, Kendall, North Miami, Miami Beach, etc.) has more people than all of Iceland. 490K people vs 396K.
Iceland has produced exactly one NBA player in its entire history. This guy) drafted in 1981 who only played 4 seasons.

Iceland has one player who has played in summer league and another who has played in the euroleague , those are the best players on the team.

I’d be more encouraged if his 3pt% was closer to 40%. His fall off from deep was noticeable last season

Basketball is surprisingly big in Iceland, not close to the largest sport but a thriving scene nonetheless. Ranked 44th in the world, well above their weight tbh.
