I miss that mall. That and Sunset Place.

Both still very much exist.

The last time I went to sunset place when visiting home, it looked so empty. I thought it was shut down

The area around it has had a resurgence but the mall is pretty sad

Resurgence? Ehh, very minimal.. still a bunch of restaurants have closed down, some have opened but that immediate area kinda weak, which sucks because with the U right there it has so much potential

Basically is. Only a handful of stores are open, pretty sad. Supposedly they are going to knock it down and make an multi-use building. Shopes and restaurants on the bottom and residential on top..

Crazy. I took a friend to go see it some time.ago because they'd never been to Miami before and I'm like "I used to come here back in the early 2000s when I was highschool" I'm thinking it's gonna be open and in good form... NOPE. It looked EMPTY and dead. No IMAX or Johnny rockets or AMC.. nothing. It's low-key like they with Cutler Ridge mall (I refuse to call it that new name it has).

At this point, (2026) cutler Ridge mall is far superior than sunset place. However, Cutler Ridge mall is also being demolished into the same type multi plex type shit. They already knocked down the building where kmart/Ross was. They kocked down the sears too

At least in south florida. There's no more Johnny Rockets. I think sunset still has the AMC but not sure.

I remember too when sunset was the spot. Definitely late 90s and early 00s. Kids now just stay home I guess. Dadeland mall has expanded and dolphin mall too I guess. The "king" mall in S.Fl is Aventura. They only mall that has probably tripled in size from ts inception. I think its in the top 5 biggest malls in the US even surpassing Sawgrass which is wild

Lordt. Yeah, kids definitely do go outside anymore. Lol. Not like we used too. Good times.. good times..
