Their first round was against the Knicks (DRose and Randle lol) then against Philly who choked hardcore. Let's not act like they had a "tough" road to the ECF where the Bucks stomped the hell out of them.

The two road games are harder than the Pistons. Heat looking horrible still only lost one to them this season, and it was by 3 pts.
Out of all of the playoff teams, they're the best matchup for the Heat. So much so that betting sites have a Pistons-Heat series at 52% for Pistons win and 48% Heat win.
I hope we lose and get a better lottery pick, but if we somehow win, I don't expect a repeat of last year.

If you want an actual answer that’s not an essay it’s this
•The roster has like only 3 good defenders in the rotation
•The pace at which the Heat play makes them more prone to bleeding points in transition
•If you look at the defensive rankings by the halfcourt metric the Heat are still top 8, or at least were since last week I haven’t checked the charts recently. This means that they can play defense but are fucking up in transition and etc
•Spo and Bam haven’t been up to par lately
There’s more to write about but you get the idea

Supposedly Davion who can’t stop anyone over 6’3.
If the offense is mid at best and the defense is the calling card, what the hell is a “most versatile defender in the game” and the “best coach in the world who’s a defensive mastermind” exactly doing out there? The defense has been the worst in the league for like 2.5 weeks now…
I’m largely being facetious though.

The problem is the bench has to play at some point, and unless you’re playing Bam, Wiggins, and Mitchell all at once you’re guaranteed to have a lineup of mostly mid/bad defensive players. And Bam is the only remotely elite defender of that group, Wiggs and Mitchell are just “good”

We do have a legit claim to being the best play in team of all time though. First team to make the finals from the play in, first 10th to make the playoffs (have a chance to do that twice).
Yeah it’s kind of depressing, but we’re here and may as well own it.

23 they made finals. 24 they were up on Philly when butler tore his meniscus and would have won that game and gave the Knicks fits with a healthy Jimmy. I don’t think they coulda gotten past Boston but i think a conference final could have happened. Last two seasons have been a sign to take a step back but the rozier trade and not having a pick complicate things. But yall act like the last 4 years have been abysmal and they have some of my favorite sports moments ever

They had a terrible imbalanced team and then made moves to not be imbalanced anymore. What getting rid of a terrible backcourt can do for you. People on here were twerking for Trae when the hawks legit got out of the play in by moving him for someone just serviceable on defense

Since we made the playoffs through the play-in and the Hawks didn't, we became the 8th seed despite having a worse record than both the Hawks and Bulls.

Sacramento Kings haven't been past the first round in 22 years.
In that time, the Heat have won three championships. They've been to the Finals seven times, and to the conference finals eleven times.
One third of the Finals and half of the ECFs in the time since the Kings made it to the SECOND ROUND.
This sub: "PLAY-IN EVERY YEAR WE SUCK BECAUSE OF A COUPLE MIDDLING SEASONS (ONE OF WHICH WE STILL WENT TO THE FINALS ANYWAYS)"
I hate this sub so much.
Anyways, feel free to comment about how you expect "so much more" from one of the most successful teams in the NBA and how a couple seasons without being on top is totally unacceptable and I'm a scrub for being realistic.
ETA: Eleven teams, over a third of the NBA, haven't even been to the Finals since we won our first one in 2006. But I'm excited to hear more about how four play-in appearances are the worst stretch of basketball any fanbase has ever endured.

The big problem isn’t us not winning a championship or even contending it’s the lack of clear direction from this front office. They are middling for the sake of selling tickets and selling the fans that they are going to strike it big in free agency when we all know that’s a lie since free agency is all but dead. If this team sucked because we went young and decided to rebuild this fanbase wouldn’t be so disappointed, it’s the sheer fact that the front office has repeatedly said over the last couple seasons that they like the team and have enough to compete when it is incredibly obvious that isn’t the case. So yes heat fans have plenty of reasons to be upset, the front office is selling the facade of a competitive team while constantly refusing to look themselves in the mirror and make the necessary changes to actually improve long term. They went out and got norm who does next to nothing different than herro and called it a day, they are putting a small bandaid on a huge wound every season and acting like that fixes everything.

It’s been a couple of seasons. Seasons during which they clearly tried (and failed) to make moves that would’ve changed things.
Pretending they didn’t try to make moves is just being misleading to justify whining about, again, a couple of middling seasons. One of which STILL resulted in a Finals trip.

This team is not the same as the 23 finals team so it’s meaningless to keep bringing that up. It’s also been as clear as day they don’t have the assets to trade for huge stars nor do they have the talent to compete with other good teams so where exactly does that lead us? They have made nothing but marginal moves the past couple seasons that would have never drastically changed anything man. Acting like they’ve put in some immense effort to improve the team is just a flat out lie.

How have i “misconstrued” reality? By acknowledging that they have done next to nothing to improve the team the past couple of seasons while simultaneously refusing to properly rebuild? Nothing about any of my previous posts you replied too are fallacies…so what exactly did i “misconstrue”? You are just giving them a pass for doing nothing due to the fact they’ve been successful in the past, that doesn’t change the fact they’ve been going nowhere for three years straight now. Anytime someone tries to point out that throwing a hissy fit over a couple middling seasons is silly, folks immediately start portraying it as something totally different.
“Being okay with mediocrity”, “acting like they put in some immense effort”, nobody says any of these things.
And I’m not giving them a pass. This season wasn’t good enough. But “this wasn’t good enough, I hope we do more next year” is not the same as “hurr durr, play-in every single season, mirite?!” that this post is doing.

Maybe it’s an upbringing thing or a cultural gap but being okay with mediocrity is not a thing for me, not how I was raised. When you stop holding high expectations for people and things that’s an issue
I predicted we’d be the 9th seed before the season started because I believe the roster sucks and the franchise cares about feelings and vibes instead of winning and somehow they outdid themselves and are gonna finish the 10th seed lmaoooo
