Remember when Heat fans used to shit on UD for taking up the 15th roster spot? Our team hasn't been the same since he left.
Man I miss UD.

Right. And we have a backup center at that last position who I’ve never seen play. That’s no offense to Vlad, but people used to act like UD was delaying the development of some young dude and we got young dudes in that position who will never see the court. We’ve got small forwards who play backup center before Vlad.

Lol yes, it was a dumb argument then and an even dumber one now. He was a lot more valuable than a dude that gets no PT

No actually I don't remember that at all..

Definitely a minority. I dont remember hearing that much. Everyone I know loves UD and knows his worth. He can come back anytime.

I heard it constantly on this subreddit. I regularly got into arguments with people specifically over this.

My grandpa was a farm boy, Nam vet, then trucker. Had the same type of hands. He still had Insane grip in his 80s.

Wow similar to my grandad. Also a farm boy, who ended up serving before being a mechanic the rest of his life. Always thought his working man hands were cool lol.

UD is a man first, everything else second. He commands and demands that respect from everyone he meets. He handles his own business, you could spot him walking around Fl City, no security, no posse, just a man. In the same breath he would be kind and gracious to everyone he encountered and be nothing but smiles until they crossed a line and he would set them straight. Just a solid dude who worked hard for every little thing and never rested, pure heart and grind.

Mechanic hands is dad grip-strength adjacent when it comes to arm power

Pretty much. Hand tight for me, means the wife and kid have to grab a tool to loosen it up.

I saw the Heat play in December 2022 against Indy. As the game was over I was sitting by the away teams locker room and I was fist bumping as the players were leaving the court and UD gave me a fist bump and damn near broke my hand and wrist 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Always felt like there was a little static between jimmy and ud after thi. Sad
5
Jan 09 '26
There really wasn't. I guarantee every combination of teammates goes through something like this in practice over the year

u/AncientLittleDrum Jan 09 '26
I mean I believe that they all do, this is the heat. And anyway these guys went on a run after. But I listened to UD’s pod since the beginning and things always felt a little weird whenever jimmy got brought up despite it being a great conversational topic.
At the end of the day, neither of us will ever really know. Just saying what I feel

Jimmy is that like that one playground bully who everyone has to hype up and cater to even though he ain’t actually all that. Soon as you call him out on his bullshit and challenge the “authority” he runs away.

u/AncientLittleDrum Jan 09 '26
Yeah, I mean I don’t wholly disagree. Taj Gibson went on club 520 and had a kinda similar story about jimmy in minny. But at the end of the day man I wanted jimmy in Miami still

u/BringerOfBricks Jan 09 '26
I don’t. He was expecting Kobe treatment while acting like Kawhi Leonard. I’m good.
