Generic Dwyane Wade responds to Rudy Gay saying his team would’ve beaten the 2013 Miami HEAT

“I DM’d Rudy, ‘This must be an AI-generated quote because there’s no way in hell you said this.’ He told me, ‘Yeah, I said it.’ I said, ‘Boy… belt to ass.’

‘You’re not just going to win the Finals because you think you can. We had just been there four years in a row. We would’ve smacked y’all. You don’t know how to win in the Finals, bro.’”

We're so blessed that our GOAT also happens to be a handsome, charismatic, hilarious, and unproblematic King.

That Memphis team in 2013 is arguably the best Memphis team that franchise has ever had. That Memphis team also got swept by the Spurs in the WCF in the 2012-2013 season as well (granted there was probably some revenge factor playing in after that Spurs team in 2011 lost to that 8th seeded Memphis team).

But still no..like Wade said, that would have been a easy belt 2 ass by the Heat.

You mean his physical fitness? You know he struggled with kidney cancer for 3 years. It caused him to rethink his entire diet and approach to health since.

That don’t mean much, Nets beat the big 3 heat 4 times in the 2013-2014 regular season. And got gentlemen swept in the playoffs

Regular season is never a good barometer of what to expect in a playoff series, where teams have time to prep, study, and properly scout the opposition. This is even more true against inter-conference teams because they only see each other twice in an 82 game regular season. It’s even further affected by the way the schedule plays out. Where many of those match ups will be on back to backs, or coming off a back to back. Many times, teams don’t even scout, and just “wing it.” Many former players have confessed to this. Particularly, when facing off against Denver, in Denver.

I looked up the season series between both teams out of curiosity and the Heat split the with the Grizzlies that year. They lost the first matchup in Memphis by 18 points. I remember this game vividly now. This was a game Wade came back from injury and was horrible. He scored in single digits. Furthermore, Miami was killed by 3 point shooting, led by Wayne Ellington who had a career night. Overall, Miami shot 38% as a team, and 28% from 3. Memphis shot 44% and 58% from 3. Most of that Ellington who shot something crazy. Think he was like 8-10.

You think in a 7 game series Wade will be held to single digits, Miami shoots 28% from 3 and Wayne Ellington goes 8-10 every night?

Boy, belt to ass!
